DOGS

Gotta love the hero's welcome when you get home after being gone for awhile. Furry love, its awesome!

Your Newfs eat anything, and everything?
And they eat everything very quickly. I bet those were gone in 15 seconds. As I've mentioned, they eat like alligators, biting down then throwing their heads back and gulping. There is no chewing.

If I can figure out how to post a video I'll show them eating an ice cream cone from McDonalds. I hold it sideways and they take it in one bite. All the employees gather at the drive-through window to watch. It's usually late in the evening so it's just like three or four kids.

there was a Cane Corso from North Dakota visiting at the dog park today. My impression was: He was a head strong dog and didn't seem to listen. Part of that is the Dog Park Deafness. It's as though they feel it in their soul that this is THEIR place. But watching him, he wasn't head strong as much as he was being good and he knew it, so he didn't have to listen. His owner was nervous as Sundays are a mad house with a lot of dogs. a lot. This was shot in very bright sun. I made a squeak noise so he would look up. The Sun electrified his eyes

Recently discovered shipwreck in Lake Michigan. Those bastards let the dog go drown with the ship. Hell, if they brought him on deck he would have swam the whole crew to safety.

There were eight men aboard the ship who escaped in a lifeboat and made it to Algoma, Wisconsin, in May 1881. The ship’s dog went down with the wreck.

“The captain and the crew immediately escaped in the ship’s yawl and after battling waves, the cold crew made it in to Algoma (then Ahnapee). The only loss aboard the TRINIDAD was the ship’s mascot, a large Newfoundland dog who was asleep next to the stove when the ship began to sink,” the Wisconsin Historical Society said.

This happens when I close the screen door, so they can't get out while I do something with the yard gate open.
Happens EVERY time!
In case you can't tell, there's two 80lb+ shepherds with their heads stuck thru the doggie door.... at the same time.

I woke up this morning and the half-bath Little Bear the mama Newfoundland likes to sleep in was covered in blood. It was everywhere in her fur so I couldn't tell where it was coming from. My daughter the veterinary nurse was coming down so when she got here we took LB outside and washed her. Lots of blood. We decided to take her back to my daughter Kylie's vet hospital ER in Denver. They did some tests and the doctor decided LB had a severe bloody nose. Dogs can die from bloody noses because they just don't stop. We brought LB home and she is weak. Kylie pushed a liter of fluids in LB Sub Q. We have some medicine to help the bleeding stop and LB hasn't bled any since last night. LB isn't eating but Kylie said she swallowed so much blood her stomach is probably upset. A Dr. and ER visit that was estimated at $1,000 was dropped to an estimate of $300. Plus Kylie and LB were rushed right in, no waiting. I took a picture of the bathroom floor but you don't want to see it.

Little Bear's 11th birthday is tomorrow. That's extremely old for a 160-pound dog.

Kylie said they are having a really bad outbreak of Kennel Cough here and it's serious. Keep your dog away from others if you can.

I will always try to get your vet questions to Kylie. She'll help if she can.

I hope LB will be all right. I would of freaked out.

Speaking of staying still, not a dog but I saw my son's huge python rise up in his aquarium. He had about 14 inches of body plus his head straight up in the air. Bryce was having a party at the time and that snake stayed absolutely still for 30 minutes or more. He was like a statue. I dunno, may he thought he was going to have to defend himself or someone was about to feed him.
