DOGS

R/T, do it! Get yourself and your family another dog. There are so many wonderful deserving dogs in the shelters.
But probably all of us here know how you feel. My gf and I lost our black shepherd to cancer a few months ago, at 6 1/2. I don't know how I would have done, without the three gsd's we still have. I still miss Mopar every day.
When we adopted Toga and Zeke from Woods, it was 3 months after putting down Coco and Neko wh were long term rescues with us. That was the first time in 26 years we did not have any dogs in our lives. There are many furry buddies at shelters who need to be rescued. Dive in! They rescue us too and bring joy, companionship, laughter etc into our lives. Right now our two are hanging out with mom on the bed, plus one cat, clowning around. Later on, we'll load the dogs up in the wagon and head up the coast to Ragged Point for lunch.

I will say like others have said;
Fostering or a rescue, giving one a forever home,
will fulfill something you need
you will be helping or saving an animal, that otherwise may not
get a chance to be happy & loved, they will pay it back 100 fold
& if you're a dog person, I think you know what I mean...

My father at times said (you can tell a man by the way his dog behaves).
This was in the times when rural people never locked their doors unless they would be away overnight and sometimes not even then.
In the winter it wasn’t uncommon for someone who got stuck, to walk to the neighbours go in the house and sleep on the couch.
Get up in the morning, have breakfast and the father usually, would get the tractor and pull you out. If it was your buddies place he would do it.
Key was to not wake up anyone if possible.

The dogs love the wagon. Plenty of viewing space and with the middle seat down, its just the right height for viewing forward.

Got to the dog beach, between Morro Bay and Cayucos, at 7 this morning. The dogs had fun. Pooped pups now! Swimming after the balls for 30+ minutes, tossed them in the air for a bit so they could jump for the catch, romped with other dogs. A great day was had.
