Golden Goddess heart surgery

Yep, I’m just working on small things and enjoying the car right now

I’m hoping this week I can get tires on my 15 x 10s, and new tires on the front. They’re 7 years old and there’s a couple of scary cracks. Other then that just enjoying the car :steering:

The car has 15x7s all around, they were advertised as 15x8s, so I have 255s in the back, 245s in the front. The 255s look puny on the car. A while back I found a good deal on 2 15x10s, I’ve been waiting for the money fairy to pass by get new tires all the way around after seeing a couple cracks.

I’m planing 275/60 in the back, and 225/70 in the front. I think it’ll give me the look I want and be functional. Unfortunately the wheels have a 4.5” backspace, which I know is wrong, and for some reason Plymouth decided to drop the wheel well opening on the back, so 295s are out of the question because I’ll really have to Jack it up, which will look awesome, but definitely not functional. I’m not even sure if I can squeeze the 275 in there, but it’s more likely then the 295

You can do an easy low buck check for clearance. Cut a 2x4 the length of your proposed tire diameter and somehow attach it the the wheel centered up. This will approximate the tire diameter and width. Swing it around, on stands, to check clearance and go from there. Tires usually have 1-1.5" bulge past the wheel.

When I got the wheels I mocked them up, and based off measurements from this website I took measurements.

With the 295 being shorter then the 275 it’ll sit flush with the fender lip right below it and maybe stick out half and inch, so I’d have to air up the shocks, which means If the air shock fails it kills the tire, not good. With 275, I might have to roll the fender lip, but it should fit inside the wheel well

A body housings are narrower too

I’m kinda torn on the front tire size. I have 2” raised springs in the back for the raked 70s look.

I was thinking 225s for a kinda skinny tires, but I’m kinda worried about it being too skinny, so maybe 235s, idk.

And I was thinking 70 series to match the hight of the 275, but I’m not sure if it’ll be too tall looking. 60 series will be shorter and help the rake, but will it look goofy with a tall tire in the back and short up front, will it look goofy with a tall tire up front in… I don’t know, I didn’t put this much thought when I first got tires and it kinda bit me, so I want to try to get it right this time

I know this is an earlier B, but it has 225/70-15 fronts and 275/60-15 rears. It has more of a rake than this angle shows.

Here they are. After much debate and thought, 235/60/15, 275/60/15. I went with Hercules because they’re cheaper than coopers, and I think the name is cooler lol

Looks like your chrome mud flaps are going to be functional once again. Your car musta been jacked way up with N50s on the rear at some point in its life.
Travis..

It had air shocks when I got it and the springs were flat. Since I was buying new springs anyway, I figured why not add 2” lift

I think we lost a little rake….and we might have to roll the fenders….but I’m pretty freaking happy with it

I saved the cut off portion of a sledge hammer handle, fiberglass, that I use for stuff like that.

The end goal is to take a dana 70 I got out of an 01 dodge that I had for another project that got rid of, shorten it up, move the springs in, and never have to worry about it. But that’ll be phase 3, for now a little massage will do

The 60 was raped out of it? I know a 60 is tight on a 67, a 70 should be larger, ( too large?)

a dana 70 is pretty much a dana 60. Car is a factory 8 3/4 car, I don’t want to cut up a factory 8 3/4. And 01 dodge dana 70 I can’t sell, yes I’ll cut that up and make it fit
