I found another 69 charger

not sure why you chose to single out amc-s for the eyeroll.
they are our adopted mopar brethren....theres no need for the disrespect.

I know someone who knows these cars better than I do so I asked - does AMC have the heritage that Dodge has? Without hesitating he said NO, they are a hodgepodge of stuff thrown together.
Some clown "adopted" them, so what? They have nothing in common with real Mopars other than they have four wheels and run on gas.

that someone misinformed you....... aside from chevy points, condenser, cap and rotor; a ford starter; and an occasional motorcraft carb......AMC evolved from Rambler and Jeep; and share almost nothing with the big 3

This whole thread has caused my 71 Superbee to have some serious self-esteem issues. Way to go guys.

That one guy may not be a fair ambassador for the entire AMC history. Some of their stalwart supporters would surely object to his opinion.
AMC did use parts that were used by other automakers but guess what?
Chrysler Corp also used Saginaw steering boxes, pumps, some steering columns (Tilt models)....Don't forget the Quadrajet carburetors when Carter closed shop in the mid 80s and we needed a 4 barrel carburetor vendor.

I've had about 5 people ring doorbell this morning to buy it!
Are you seriously trying to tell us that weren't tempted in the slightest..... to turn a quick buck?

Sounds like you need to start a build thread here. :)

I had a few people ask that when I bought my "Jigsaw" '70 Charger.
I entertained the idea for a moment but almost immediately dismissed it. I'd have more money in the bank but so what? I'm not living by the skin of my teeth here.

I know you're not. :)

Wasn't tempted at all went out and sprayed not for sale on it !
I'll start one but it will be slow till I get this Cadillac sold or at least out of way !
I did get a 440 today for it and found a mint grille for $800 in south ga guy said he would drive south and me north to meet somewhere he has really nice bumpers and a gauge cluster too

That probably came across as obnoxious.
What I should have wrote was that I'm not in a tight spot where the proceeds of a sale would change my life, fund an operation, save the farm or pay a ransom. I've been down on my luck before. In my early 20s, $10-$15,000 would surely have made a big impact on my life.

Pretty sure AMC used torqueflight transmissions.

Hey BB- does your new car have a fender tag?

No, you don't get it. Of course companies get stuff from vendors because they don't want to make something like carburetors when an existing company already does that. Things like transmissions, which couldn't handle the torque of Hemi's and 440's, they had to design because Munci and Borg Warner would break.
I didn't get in to the details with the guy (because we have more important things to discuss) but there is no comparison between AMC (where are they now?) and Dodge. They are a Mopar sheerly by the accident of being bought by Chrysler.
That one guy is a wealth of knowledge and has worked on cars most people can only dream about. He also wouldn't appreciate me bragging about him either.

And it shows.

I must have missed something in the last 8 pages, how did we get on the subject of AMC? Is this an AMC Charger, like the AMF Harleys?

There is a good comparison between AMC and Dodge: Chrysler bought both of them. They kept the Dodge name going, and they kept a lot of the AMC engineering and factories going.

And you're right, there were other companies already making stuff like carbs, but that didn't stop GM and Ford from making their own. I don't think Chrysler made any though (except perhaps for their marine engines).
