And have no interest in building one but why bash a guy that wants to do it?
I loved the show. It was good family fun. The Chargers were bought from willing sellers, nobody forced them to give up the cars. In 1978 when the show started, these were 10 year old used cars that had yet to become classics. They were liked by some but most people saw them as used cars, probably not much different than we see a Lot of cars today. A 2011 Charger isn’t seen as an iconic car today so do you think that in 2064 we will be pissed if a TV show wrecked a bunch of them, a car that was built in great numbers?
The 68 and 69 Chargers were lost to wrecks and rust in greater numbers.

Kind of ironic, but I wonder if our cherished B bodies would have the popularity, and resulting availability of reproduction parts today, if hadn't been for the cars sacrificed to make a TV show that turned the second generation Chargers into an icon.

The 1st time I ever saw a 68 Charger was my next door neighbors when they pulled that Brand new 68 in their driveway in 1967 I was 5 years old & I was in AWE, What a COOL BADASS car I thought !!!!!! been a 68 Charger NUT since then LOL. I still remember the the excitement of that day. I didn't need a TV show to know what a BADASS car it is

I loved all of them a decade before the Dukes premiered. Just saying, I think they all got a more mainstream following after. As a Mopar guy, I felt like a freak in 1960s PA, much less so after the Dukes. I have a thirty year old Mopar collector guide book, which cites the choice of the Charger for the show. The story goes that Jerry Rushing's 1957 Chrysler 300C moonshine runner was the original prototype for the TV star, but the production people weren't about to go through the expense and PR problem of trashing vintage letter cars, which by 1978 were rare and collectible. The Charger, with it's NASCAR heritage, and ties to moonshine culture, proved an acceptable stand in, and then some.

So I just bought this project and may have bit off a bit more then I can handle at this point . I've always wanted one of these but now might not be the time !
Cars a 69 charger yes the best looking car ever made !
Was a 383 auto car no fender tag no build sheet (doesn't really matter it's a 383 car)
I have a list that totals over $15000 in just sheet metal for this car
Some is installed some is hung most is in wrappers still !
I also have a 440 that goes with it and a 833 4 speed car has a 8 3/4 rear
There's other stuff I have to like front end parts door hinges ...... Car needs full restoration but as you all know these area are insane prices and continue to rise .
You could buy a rust bucket for $20k then buy all the sheet metal or skip all the super pain in the but work and big money stuff and go right to welding metal !
