late model hemi into early b bodies

The template I made from cardboard, will be welded across the bottom, using the same shape or form as the stock piece. I wanted to then weld "uprights" to tie into the top cross member, which will then be bolted to the assembly. Most of the existing metal (side pieces) will remain, to help the air flow to the radiator.

This will make it much easier to install the Hemi engine because it will slip through the uprights, and they will in turn, be bolted together with the upper piece. I hope this will stiffen the front end, and in the long run, make the car a little tighter in the turns. The frame connectors I am building were taken from the web site, 1965-1965 mopar. These will also be welded to the car. Over all, it may help the ride and rigidness of this old car....!

You know, that is an excellent idea to have the core support removable at the top to ease engine stabbing and removal, wish I would have thought of that. Sounds like what you have planned will stiffen the front end right up. When you can, post some pics so we can check out the metal magic in action. Keep us posted on what you're doing.

Well today I got some spare time and cut out the holes where the drivers side mirror went, then patched it back together. Turned out real nice, a scim coat of filler, 2 new holes and no one will be the wiser.

WE all know:black_eye:

Shhhh, it's a secret.

Did some filler work tonight, man do I HATE body work!!! Funds are low, so I guess I'm on the hook to get it done myself.

Yeah, along with Napalm (spelling) in the morning.

Hoodscoop is damn near done, 4 more holes and she'll be set. More pics will follow in a couple of days.

Pics of the bump in the trunk for the fuel pump, and also the hood scoop.

As promised, more car ****.

Looks great.

I hadn't thought of it until now, but I have an exact template for the hole Mopar used for the Hemi Coronet hood. I bought it some time ago, anticipating I might need it ... someday!

If any one would like a template, I think I could draw it on a piece of large paper and mail it out. I'd do a couple of them, then who ever got one, he could make a copy and mail it to the next guy...kinda like aMwAy.....

Thanks for the compliment.

B392Hemi, how's the car coming along?

Pretty well, with the time alotted. I pulled the front suspension, got the K member cleaned and completed the welds on the eng. mounts, and painted. The upper and lower arms all look very good, obviously a suspension kit with new components will be needed as well as boxing the lower A arms. I did run across an outfit in an ad in the new Mopar Muscle, that maps tubular lower control arms [http://www.capautoproducts.com/]as well as upper (several vendors for those) but first one I'd seen for the lower units.

Not sure if I really need this extra strength, maybe you guys have some ideas or suggestions.

A delay this last week due to a death in the family, my 88 yr. old Father In Law. I told my wife, if I make it to anywhere near that age, just put me in the trunk of my Coronet, and set me on the beach at low tide...I'll be gone in the mornin'....

Some photos this weekend perhaps, if time permits.

Hey 5.7, I have been following your posts. I really love the work you have done, it is a sweet ride. What is the stuff you used around the hump you made in the trunk floorpan? I am putting new floors in my satellite, and after I get them welded in I was wanting to use a rubber type sealer on the edges like the factory did. Is that what that stuff is? Where did you get it? and what is it called? Thanks.

B392HEMI, the lower arms are awesome if you have the coin, they are lighter than factory also stronger(per cap), but if you just box the lower arms you'll get alot more strength and less flex. That's what I did and they turned out real nice.
