late model hemi into early b bodies

Why are you selling, thought you were gonna install this into a Charger?

You are 1 lucky guy, and yes, I'm jealous.

nice project, i was highly considering this swap into my dodge street rod,,but way to costly in my opinion, for the wiring,,and computers,, your swap looks great,,

Fstfish66, dont let the cost stop ya. Prices for these swaps seem to come down everyday, still a bit pricey, but it is possible to do this on the cheap. Thanks for the compliment, alot of LATE nights after the kids and better half go to bed.

Srt8mechanic, If I had the cash, I would buy it, swap a few parts and bingo, a 6.1 running on a 03" computer, but it would not have the proper tune to make it run like it should, but it would run nonetheles. I'm sure it will sell soon, the price is reasonable, so when it does, get that thing going, I want to see pics and hear how you are coming along with it.

Scroll saw and a few new blades are waiting ever so patiently for tomorrow's cutting of the hood. Man, I hope I dont screw this up.

Yeah, I've got one of those at work, but my hood is damn near as big as my PT Cruiser, so getting it there would be a pain. Well I did manage to get it cut with the scroll saw, turned out REAL nice. Now I need to get some structual adhesive to join the inner and outer panels back together, seems the 44 year old stuff just isn't holding anymore.

Prolly not after gettin all shook up by the saw. Glad ya got it cut ok

That was before I started cuttin'.

It all went pretty smooth. Now I'm trolling the web for body panel adhesive, should not be to difficult to find.

My dad stopped by today to give me a hand bolting the hood back on, and we ran into a small problem. Seems the rear of the hood does not want to sit flush with the cowl and fenders, now we only spent about 15 minutes working on it, so we really did not try to hard to ge it aligned. But I did notice that I'm out of downward movement on the hinges, so anyone got ANY ideas? I'll try to post some pics asap.

Called in a favor from a buddy and in about 1/2 hour, hood sits nice, opens, and closes with no issues. I tell you the "old farts" got this stuff hands down. Thats a quote from my buddy, and yes he's retired and I'm jealous, still got about 30 years to go.

Max wedge scoop looks real nice, sets the whole car. Didn't get time to take any pics, but I will do so asap.

On Page two, you have a shot looking down at the radiator support and radiator. I have created a template for the lower support piece on my '65, and was going to have the support made from the template, using 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x .120 steel. I appears from the shot you have made this support with a hand formed upper crossmember. Is that the case or is it something you created with a press. "Handformed" I meant, by cutting and welding to get the arch correct.
Thanks
Bob

Well I cheated big time on that. I got a piece of 14 gauge sheetmetal from work that was the overall length and width, then cut a few inches off one end so I could run wires through it, used c clamps to hold it, then traced the outline, cut accordingly, double checked everything, fired up the welder, then grinder, the bondo(to smooth it out a bit), then primer. Not that the factory support wasn't good, it's just that it had WAY to much flex, so I just boxed it in. It really is a simple job and adds loads of strength. Thanks for noticing, not many people catch that. I guess I should take it as a compliment that it looks factory.

Thanks for the reply. I made myself a homemade torsion bar removal tool this evening after getting off work, popped the bars loose, and will be dropping the front suspension in the next day or two. I wanted to get that front piece welded in before I roll the car on the rotis' and your information will help me reach that goal a little quicker. I appreciate the info...and believe me, I have looked at every detail on the photo's you've provided us. Great job....
Bob

Well you'll be happy to hear this, I'm working on getting the front frame rails tied together. That should stiffen it up like the little blue pills. It will be down low, inbetween the radiator and k frame, and I'm leaning towards a bolt on piece, but I gotta install the front bumper to see where and if it can fit.

Somewhere between the sway bar and radiator, it should work, cross your fingers.
