late model hemi into early b bodies

I got the engine and trans on Ebay. If you look there and go to car parts & acc. click on that, then type in 5.7 hemi or 6.1 hemi. You will get alot of stuff for these engines. Or call Street and Performance 479-394-5711, they can also hook you up. Dont pay more than a 3k for the engine.

Most junlyards will not sell the new stuff, I guess it's gold.

Well the shorter belt worked, now I need to take the braket off and finish welding it at work (we have a tig). The engine doesn't want to rev above 4000rpm, seems the limiter is kicking in, so I will take out the Hyperpac tune and go back to stock, bummer.

I did not know that, so I'll check into it. Thanks for the info.

Don't ever use a wire nut to connect 2 wires together, I found this out the hard way. My fuel pump wires were wire nut tied together just so I could get the engine started, and the fuel pump would go from a high to low pitch sound, it was playing with my mind as to why. Then I remembered that the wire nut was holding the power wires together, so off came the wire nut, and a crimp was used , wouldn't you know it, steady pitch on the fuel pump. Lesson learned.

Ordered a max wedge scoop and bigger injectors today. The dynomax mufflers that come with the tti system are way too quiet, so flowmasters 50 series will go on to replace the dynomax, so now dad gets a free set of mufflers. Somehow I think I'm getting the short end of the stick with this deal.:black_eye:

The longer I run the engine, the better it gets. To bad I gotta wait for the body and paint to get done before I drive it. I did get a quote for $5000 to do the work nd it's guaranteed for as long as I own the car, I'll get some more quotes.

Is that for paint and bodywork, or just bodywork ?

Both, but I will get more quotes.

On friday last week, my friend made some adapter blocks for the compressor, so today I went ahead welding the tubes to the adapters and wouldn't you know it, the first turned out so so. The second one went tits up, blew a hole the size of Texas in the thick part of the adapter and it went down hill from there when I tried to fill in the hole. So now my buddy is gonna make 2 more for me and I will try the aluminum rod that you use a propane torch instead of the tig welder. Man this irritates me to no end when you know how to do somehting in your mind only to have your hands screw it up.

New adapter blocks are done, now waiting for the tubing from docs blocks. New srt-8 injectors have arrived, along with the max wedge hood scoop.
The injectors will go on this weekend and possibly the scoop if time allows. I can't wait to hear it run with the bigger injectors, should be good. The scoop is a nice piece from glasstek, damn near twice as thick as the other one that I have and won't use.

Did some practice welding with the propane torch, the weld looked great, but when I put some twist to see if it held it broke loose. So I did some tig welding on the same od. and id. tubing, it turned out flawless. Too bad it was with some scrap and not the adapter blocks, so I will practice some more untill the tubing gets here.

Hope to get some new pics posted this weekend, and "Maybe", some video so everyone can hear it running, we'll see.

Had a few minutes this afternoon to install the 6.1 hemi fuel injectors, man what a difference. The idle is baby *** smooth, sounds better, and the belt tensioner isn't jumping around like it used to. I guess the 1 1/2 adapter plates were causing havoc with the air/fuel ratio, now I have a set of injectors that I dont need, anyone need a set? Maybe tommorrow I will get some video, but that depends on what the better half has planned.

The a/c adapter blocks with tubing are done. The propane torch method worked great, all I had to do was get the aluminum block off the vice(heat was going into the vice instead of the aluminum), once that was done it worked out perfectly. Started to cut a hole in the hood, but stopped to take care of the rugrats, plus it started to drizzle then rain, so it was a good time to stop. Up next is the bump in the trunk so the fuel pump wires wont hit the bottom of the trunk pan. I know that I said I would get some more pics and video, I will, it's just that I want to have everything on the up & up so you guys and gals, can see that what I've done isn't just thrown together.

Well I went to put hoses on the ac lines and wouldn't you know a weld broke on the adapter block and things went tits up from there when I tried to fix it. I'm srill working on it so I dont have pics of it yet.

In the process of making a new adapter block, and have done quite a bit practice welding (the propane method). Now I'm starting to get the hang of it, and zero failures up to this point, also staring to run low on 5/8 aluminum tubing. More tubing should be here by the end of the week, adapter block also should be finished. Who thought that putting an a/c system on would have so many F'ing gremlins?
