Meep's 68 Road Runner restoration

looks like it had a lot of use :rolling:, meeps looks like a very nice car to start with and it has a lot of good history to start with ah the memories too! ,hope they where all good ones :headbang:

The stats on the car: 383 auto, performance axle package, PS, disc brakes (bendix type), W1 with black top and black interior, decor package, rear speaker Am radio, hood blackout with body pinstripe. I have all the original running gear right down to the pinion seal. Here is another old pic of the car right after I got it.

The shop is only doing the body and paint so I'm thinking $8 - $10K. Mike just completed his fifth Road Runner so the body contours are very familiar to him. Also, my car is the best one he has seen to date as the last five cars all had to have floors and quarters. I told him "it will be like you are on vacation." His pricing is very fair and he's not a BS-er so I'm not worried. He took a $2500.00 deposit and will bill me only after he completes an operation on my car and I will likely get billed every month. He believes that in order to get paid he has to do some work. Oh, and Mike is a MoPar parts distributor so guess where I'll be getting my parts?

That's the original upholstery in the 68. I call it rip and roll!! And that is not a day two mod I'd like to retain in this build.

Yep, the orange RR is another iron in the fire and after I repaint it it should be down hill.

I also have 68sportsattelite's blue car getting the 451 conversion. That car is currently in my shop and the owner is prepping the engine compartment for paint.

Congrats, hope you get to enjoy it for at least 30 years when your done.
Looking forward to updates.

During my first trip to the States, I spent a few days helping a fellow Kiwi re-assemble a '68 Roadrunner. That was in 1987, and the car was a 383, 3 speed manual painted bright yellow out in the Industrial back blocks of San Bernadino. Don't remember much more, but it was cool. Our first ride in it was around the block. Only travelled about 1/4 mile and a Cop car went by with both Cops turning their heads rapidly. Needless to say - no burnouts that day. The sound was awesome, no carpets, bench seat, home made exhaust with headers.

I had just bought a '70 Roadrunner roller, and was sorting out parts needed to take back home. Good times.....good times. :headbang:

Mike's first pass with a block over some guide coat finds a multitude of sins. He calls it the 68 Plymouth leopard.

I have been slacking on the pictures so here you go. Trunk painted as of today. This also goes to show you that the car is not in body shop purgatory.
