My 1967 Belvedere Convertible Plans and Restoration (aka - Mad Scientist Build)

I'm dying to know what size and style wheel you're planning on...

...and hoping they're not similar to what I'm planning...:)

VERY GOOD QUESTION there Herr_Poopschitz . . . I'm still finishing up the mini tubs and the rear axle, so I can put the wheel measuring tool that 747 Mopar lent to me and find out what exactly I'll be able to fit under the car . . . I'm going for the deep dish look, that's why I narrowed the axle 3" on each side and moved the spring in 4" on each side . . .

I'll let you know when I figure it out . . . ( I'm curious too ) . . .

Back in the shop on the mini tub . . . more progress . . .

With the weather being overcast and drizzly, not much better time then to wander out to the shop and work on the car . . .

Trying to get this driver side mini tub finished up once and for all . . . first we start with the hole . . .

Then we fit the metal to the hole and tack it in place . . .

sm_drwelding9.jpg

Then it gets welded and ground to fit the hole . . .

Hope to have this wrapped up this weekend . . . maybe ? ?

Back part of the tub is completed . . . getting there . . .

Got the whole back side of the mini tub welded in and partially ground down . . . looking good

This pic didn't work too well - will try and get another one later . . .

And a look from the trunk side . . . getting there . . .

Will be happy to get my head out of that wheel well - feel like a kid playing in his own little "fort" . . . but I'll be happy to be done with it . . .

We're going to have to start calling them the marathon tubs haha, what allot of work they've turned out to be. Oh well, I'm sure bolting those super fat tires under it will be plenty rewarding.

I didn't like playing in my "fort" either....and mine was smaller haha.

Keep up the good fight..the progress is still coming and looking good.

Working to get my head out of the gutter . . . er, wheel well . . .

Got a little done, as I'm trying to get this put behind me and get my head out of the gu . . . wheel well.

Got sidetracked yesterday, had to get some service done on my cars, tires rotated and balanced, oil change, new distributor cap and rotor, new plug wires and plugs, now just needs an alignment - all on the truck, and the shoebox got a new set of plugs -one was fouled and it was running on only 7 cylinders - running better now !

Here's what I got done before I had to get out of the shop - the sweat was dripping on my clean metal . . . that's not good ! !

Got the new metal around the corner, matching the same style as the rest of the wheel well . . .

sm_drwelding13.jpg

And got it further across the top . . . and closing in the completion of this job . . .

sm_drwelding14.jpg

We're getting there . . . slowly . . . if LIFE would stop getting in my way ! ! !

Marathon tubs . . . you win for that one 747 Mopar . . . it sure feels like it ! ! ! But it'll be worth it . . .

Thanks a bunch KB . . . a little at a time is better then last week fighting with the Yahoo's at Yahoo all week ! ! !

Slowly picking away at it . . . got more done tonight . . .

Got to the shop and got another piece put in the mini tub, and was able to get the brace re-attached too . . . ( had to detach it when the inner fender was not moved in far enough and had to readjust it ) . . .

Got a good piece put in tonight . . .

sm_drwelding15.jpg

And not very much left to finish up on this "Marathon Tub project" . . .

sm_drwelding16.jpg

After I finish this, I'll need to work on adding the drain like I did on the passenger side too . . . that'll be a MUST ! ! !

Mopar Nats . . . what a weekend . .

WOW . . . what a weekend ! ! ! Got to attend the Mopar Nats in Columbus - my first trip up there, and arrived in style in 747 Mopar's Charger ! ! ! Had a great weekend, had a great time hanging out with 747 Mopar again, and made it all back home safely . . . I know what I'll be doing next year ! ! !

Just think how much better nats will be next year when you can roll up in your own car! Keep doing what you're doing Kahn and this thing will be coming back together before you know it!

Got a good chuckle on the way up to Ohio . . . shot a pic . . .

ON the way up the road to Ohio from NC, I passed this semi . . . and had to shoot a pic of his load . . .

I got a great chuckle out of seeing this . . .

The Marathon is nearing the end . . . the finish line is in sight ! ! !

Got out to the shop tonight, bound and determined to get this driver side mini tub wrapped up . . . and I'm so close . . .

The main holes are all filled in and welded up . . . still got some grinding to do and pin hole plugging up . . .

sm_drwelding17.jpg

This is the last hole left - should be a very quick job next time I'm in the shop to finish it up . . .

sm_drwelding18.jpg

Then I can move on to the next project ( or part ) to get repaired . . . got a neat little update planned . . . then rocker repairs

Good to see your almost done and moving on to the next thing, quarters I'm guessing???????????
