My 1967 Belvedere Convertible Plans and Restoration (aka - Mad Scientist Build)

Just about ready to stick a fork in it . . . working on wrappimg it up . . .

Good progress in the shop tonight on the 2nd half of the drive shaft loop . . . and most of the cutting is completed. Got it all aligned up, temporarily secured in place with a couple clecos, and ready to be tacked into place . . . then dropped down and welded . . .

Here's how it's all coming together . . .

sm_dlparts11.jpg

Another view - there will be no bottom on this one, as it's further back and I don't want the loop hanging down that low . . .

sm_dlparts12.jpg

This project is quickly coming to a wrap ! ! !

Lol MFH.....I think MFH is an acronym for Motha ...... Hammer

Progress looks good. I can't wait for you to start the quarter work :happy1:

Hey KB . . . I'm going to have to face my fear and start on them, I'm running out of excuses and other things to weld . . .

quarters ( actually a bad driver side rocker ) is next ! !

Been welding everything in sight and getting as much practice as possible to be ready for the quarters . . . everyone will SEE THEM ! ! !

Looks nice Kahn, that driveshaft isn't going anywhere.

Thanks 747 . . . I think that I could pick up the entire car by this loop . . . it turned out very SOLID ! ! !

Sharp work Kahn! Good feeling knowing you and your driveshaft won't be visiting with tea and crumpet's, while flying down the highway. Lost a driveshaft once in a 70's Grand Marquis...beat the living snot out of the bottom of the car in seconds. Scary Stuff.

Breathe into the paper bag and repeat after me:

"I am ready to weld in my quarters
I know I can grind it all out if I have to and do it again
I believe I am a magic man with more skill than David Copperfield
And I will not let my Mopar Brother's call me a wuss"

Drive shaft loop - bucket seat supports . . . complete . . .

Wrapped up the drive shaft loops / bucket seat supports tonight . . .

the floor in my Belvedere just got more solid ! ! What a difference !

sm_dlparts13.jpg

Still wondering about putting a couple gussets in the empty holes between the floor and the tubing . . . like I did on the fronts . . .

sm_dlparts14.jpg

WHOA . . . these things are SOLID ! !

Thanks a bunch for the kind words Prop - Very much appreciated. I don't want to find out how much snot it beat out of the floor either ! ! !

Ok KB . . . let me put this bag over my head and go stand in the corner . . . LMAO . . . No more excuses now . . .

I've got nothing else to weld except for the bad Driver side rocker and both rear quarter panels . . .

think I've got plenty of practice, now it's time to venture outside my comfort zone again and learn some more stuff ! ! !

"I'm ready to weld my quarters"
"I'm ready to weld my quarters"
"I'm ready to weld my quarters"

Wow, You have reinforced the strength and made safety priority, Pretty cool thinking and looks like a good solid welding job, You sure have progressed in your skills, i hope i get there one day :)

Khan, if I can weld in a quarter skin I'm pretty sure you can. My advise from having just done this is, leave a little space between the panels when you tack it in place. I didn't do this and the top of my quarter warped as the panels expanded from the heat and crashed together.

Yippy :hello2:!!!! Looks like it's time to get the bodywork underway so we can finally get a look at something other than the bottom of the car :blob1:. You know what that's means???? Time to start thinking about paint colors.............I'll vote for Orange.

If you are doing new quarter skin panels and not the whole panel i suggest these butt clamps Daytona kid told us about, i bought two sets of them when im ready and from what ive seen and read think there going to do fine..

Hey Ron . . . Agreed ! ! ! ! Look familiar . . . I picked these up a couple years ago at a local car show - use them often . . . especially with the mini tubs.

A closer look at the picture . . . and them in use . . .

sm_bodypanelclips.jpg

They do come in handy when you spend most of your time working alone ! !

boy those would have been handy!

Yes indeed KB . . . Yes indeed . . .

Thanks BigBloc61 . . . I don't have a choice now . . . it's all that is left to do . . . I'll find out soon ! Thanks for the "push" . . . LMAO

At work I'm doing Closet audits for the network closets and came across this old board for tracking doctors work days. Does this mean Khan is a Mopar MD?

Hey BigBlock61 . . . got a couple of questions for you . . .

Please double check and see if I am working this weekend ?

Does that mean I'm working in the closet ?

According to KB67 . . . I think he called me MMM "Mopar Metal Master" ( or something like that ) . . . which might mean I'm a

Mopar MD = Mopar "Metal" Doctor ? ?

That there Dodge is Ford powered! 4.6 DOHC out of a Lincoln Mark VIII...ha, even has a Lincoln emblem on the hood...nice motor/drivetrain for a cruiser...

I was looking at that motor and trying to figure out what it was ? ? I'm not familiar with it . . . wish I got a closer / better picture of it now . . .
