My 1967 Belvedere Convertible Plans and Restoration (aka - Mad Scientist Build)

Haha...Mopar MD....I think we could give out honorary dipoloma's to quite a few of our members in that regard.

YEP, Amazing as it is, Ive seen more done hear then any place i could visit or see online! One day i expect this site registered with body shops around the country for expert use of metal fabrication and body restore. :eusa_think:

I thought it was just the huge sagging hole that was turning me off........................who in the hell puts a Ford in a Mopar anyway??????

I pulled all the guts out of a Mark VIII (that's why I recognized it) w/ the intent of doing something similar to an F100 I had, but decided against it eventually. Small cube V8, ~300 hp, smooth as silk, good mpgs, and I bought my whole 75,000 mile car for $500 (exterior looked like hell w/ flaking clear and owner gave up taking care of it). It's basically a detuned Cobra engine, so a lot of aftermarket support, and the cast tubular intake is cool looking. Sold everything for more than I had in it, and now have an Al driveshaft for my TKO conversion. Not many better deals out there for what you get.

Here's a pic of the intake...great little jewel for a hot rod or street rod...granted, this one's been polished...

Yeah I have kind of heard the opposite on fuel economy with the 4.6. One of my previous co-workers ad the SOHC 4.6 standard v8 and rarely got better than 16-17 mpg.

So far the first half of a tank the Coronet went through with my 5.7 was 20.7 mpg.

SOHC and DOHC are different animals, esp if the SOHC is a non-PI engine. Many Mark VIII owners knock down near 30 mpg on the interstate...although it is a great example of aerodynamics done correctly.

Side tracked out of the shop . . .

Life got in the way again, and my daughter was in town for a week, and I had some re-work to get done on a walkway, now that I've added the carport . . .

The old walkway angled off to try and soften the look of it going around the corner of the house ( here is a pic when I was building it )

sm_walkwayold.jpg

But now that I have added the carport, the walkway would make more sense to go all the way to the carport

sm_walkwaynew.jpg

Concrete will be poured as a walkway next to the carport - waiting on my neighbor to assist with the pour ( he does it for a living ).

That's some nice stone work Kahn........How much do you charge haha??????

Thanks 747Mopar . . . Was not too much . . . which is the reason that I thought it needed changing . . .

here is an approximate line on the old angled walk . . .

sm_walkwaynewdraw.jpg

Almost done, need to mortar the edge black bricks in place and do a little work on leveling out the new pavers at the end . . . they are currently only set in to find my total paver length ( so I can mortar in the black edge pavers ).

CHARGE . . . Not CHANGE . . . . . . LMAO . . . I can read, I just can not SEE ! ! !

Wow, You do some great work outside of the car industry stuff too.. Very nice!

Front walkway . . .

Thanks Ron . . . I had to do some work to put in a usable front walkway too . . . here are some pics from that project . . .

Starting to lay the foundations for the black border bricks to be mortared in place . . .

sm_ww1.jpg

Once I figured out how I wanted the walk to go . . . and it is an even grade up to the front now . . .

sm_ww2.jpg

After the edges were done and in place, fill it with screenings and pack it all down . . .

sm_ww3.jpg

Then start laying out the pavers . . . finally starting to look like a walkway . . .

sm_ww4.jpg

Got some interesting cuts to make the transitions work out . . .

sm_ww5.jpg

Most of the walkway in place . . . now to finish up all the transitions . . .

sm_ww6.jpg

And the final walkway . . .

Wow khan, looks freaking awesome. Nice job indeed will have to get some blue prints made up for me an fly you in for some work to be done at my house...lmao

I do agree bud, That is some awesome stuff, sometimes i wonder about you when ya speak of your work qualifications! Ummmmm :BangHead:

Agreed, that looks like professional landscape work not just any old rookie job. I'll make sure my wife doesn't see it or she'll be expecting me to do it here and I'm no landscaper by any means. Looks terrific

Yuck . . . humidity . . .

The humidity has finally gotten to the shop and I had to put a dehumidifier out in the shop . . . how has it gone for a year with no issues, then all of the sudden I start to see little spots of surface rust on the bare metal . . .

Working on fixing the drain on the driver side - same as was done on the passenger side . . .

sm_drainconvtop.jpg

Got some family stuff going on and I have not been able to spend much time in the shop . . . hope to get that fixed soon . . .

Bare metal and moist air! its been "fairly" dry with the humidity stuff for the most part of this summer, strange for what were used to and now its been feeling a lot like fall, i sure hope that doesn't mean a early winter but things have seemed to move very quickly this summer!!! I started to think it was just me but the wife has been telling me more then i really want to hear about those post "winter tales" from her friends that usually starts the latter part of September lol, oh well, time will tell and as long as were ready for it all, there shouldn't be a problem, i hope! :)

I know everybody around my neck of the woods has been sayin' that we're s;posed to have another winter like we had last year. OH YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
