My 470

The 383 that spun #1 and 2 rod bearings had 100 cold on the drill and after I broke it in, 95 at hot idle.

This should be just fine.

Once I get it on the engine lift, flywheel, clutch/pressure plate and bushing will be installed and then drop it home.

...and that monster's going in a dart? You'll be the terror of the south valley!

Lol! I'll be happy if I built it right and it doesn't send a piston out the side of the block!

Engine is in, headers from TTI have been a pain in the ***. Pass. side is fine, drivers side is fighting me at every turn! I've heated the offending tubes and used a socket to get a decent ding in them. So I finally get it in, and wouldn't you know, one tube is still gonna hit my steering u-joint. Not to mention I forgot to put the starter in. So I'm at the point that I might just pull them bastards out and install factory exhaust manifolds, absolutely no problems with those and while I might leave some hp on the table, in a Dart, I doubt that I'd notice. Pics will follow in the morning.

Are you struggling getting the headers in or they just don't fit when bolted up? Normally you need to lay any big block header in the engine bay before setting the motor in. Usually tti's are snug but don't hit anything when installed. Starter is usually a trick also. Gotta get it up in it's space before everything else is in place.

I know, not my first rodeo with TTI's. I'm sure it's the all the aftermarket stuff I have, QA1 k-frame, Borgenson power steering box and Ididit column. Also being an A body, it's just so figgin tight. I'll mark the header then pull it out today, ding it and that should take of the last issue.

I can get the headers in/out from the bottom but layed them in while installing the engine.

Yea, power steering in a bb a body = no good.. lol. And I know all about tight "A" bodies. I had to cut the headers apart and put pieces and bends in on this car.

I'm sure it's worse with an RB or Hemi. That engine bay looks really nice!

Here's the drivers side header and all the dents it took to fit it with s QA1 k-frame and Borgenson power steering box.

According to TTI krylon makes paint that'll match the coating. I'll be damned if I can find any though. Looks like your getting there!

Just finished installing drivers side header, still had to shim the mount. I was trying to get away from the shims, oh well, it's done. Now to finish hooking up the electrical and other loose ends. Might be able to break in the cam on Friday.

Looks awesome 5.7! What color is that in the block?

It's cast iron gray and the timing cover, intake and air cleaner are textured argent silver.

Nice looking set up! You stated that the Terminator is only good for 600hp. I thought in my reading that there was an upgradeable TB ( 850 HP) and the CPU could be updated to allow full laptop tuning... giving it many more options...
This is still my first choice for that reason but it's so hard to beat a complete Fitech set up for almost half the $$$...Is the Holley new or was it on your 383?

It can be upgraded for free, just download the new version (V4) and your golden. I bought it new, had it on the 383, ran great! My buddy is gonna help do the upgrade as he has already done it for his 340, and a laptop will be used from that point on.

I don't think the FITECH has the capability that the Holley does and that was my reason for choosing the Holley.

Engine is broken in! A tiny leak down at the pan/timing cover. Temp never got over 213 with a 22x19 brass copper 4 row radiator with direct fan and shroud. After it was broken in, temp settled at 200 at 2k rpm's with a 180 t-stat. Still have some timing issues, and need to replace a spark plug boot. I have a small video but don't know how to post that, so if some can post it, I'll send it to ya.

You have to upload it to YouTube I think, if you want to send it to me I'll post it on my account and upload it here for you
