My 66 Satellite street car project

All done just needs a bit of detailing on the undercarriage and wheels. I wasn't sure how I would feel about the Big Boy Hood but to me looks OK! Also while the car was out for paint I cut in a escape door in the trailer. Totally worth the effort.

Both the scoop and trailer look good! The side door upgrade is still on my list to do. For my hood scoop I started with a 5" and trimmed it down to 4.250" at the front and slopes a little more. A guy sure needs that extra room though.

This is my air filter with hood closed. Scoop comes to rest on the lid, no extra room left at all. It is a 16 X 4.5" filter though with a 1" drop base. Yours looks good!

When your new 315/60-15's are wider then your current 390/45-15's that are already a bit tight you've entered the Twilight Zone!!!!!!!
390/45-15 on a 12" wheel = 14.875 section width
315/60-15 on a 12" wheel = 14.937 section width
Only me!

Trying to fill up that extra space in the new scoop.
N20-Outlet Stinger Plate 50-650hp set up at 50 for now! Probably never see more then 150.

I've had the same problem with Hoosier Radial slicks.

I just want to say it was great talking to you today ( not sure if I’ll make it down tomorrow) my cousin and I really appreciated you taking the time to talk to us and tell us about your car. A little fun thing I do is look around at the cars on this weekend and pic that years favorite. Last year was a 57 Chrysler restomod ( not even in the show field) this year I honestly picked yours. Your hot rod is very well put together and well thought out machine. GREAT JOB DUDE!

Thanks, it was fun talking to you too. Maybe we can meet up again next year!!

It's been awhile and I've continued to make some changes. Removed the heater box (wasn't ever going to use it) fixed a slew of electrical gremlins, replaced the rackpak 3 times, the MSD box 3 times, moved a bunch of wiring around and sheilded everything. Finally think I got it but ruined most of the beginning of the season. Changed out the exhaust to SpinTech pro shoot out mufflers and opened up the trans tunnel so I could raise the gear vendors for better driveline angle.

Think I hurt the motor. Smokes a bit when I get into it. Looking to build a 572 for it. I already have a complete Indy 440-1 setup that have been really worked on and flows way to much air for my little 446! Spoke with Indy yesterday and they are getting me a quote on a Aluminum 572 short block kit. Indy says 9.50 with ease N/A and since I’m only legal down to 10.00 I will be looking to slow it down a bit. After a lengthy discussion shift points between 7300-7400 through the trap at 7800 that’s crazy to me. I always thought big strokers like lower rpm. 60cc heads so he needs to set me up with dished pistons or I’ll be sitting around 14:1 cr. Want to be around 11:1. Waiting for the quote! Going to be posting a couple question in the drag race section around my RMVB and how I should handle slowing down from 7500+ rpm without tearing things apart under engine braking. This bigger HP stuff is kinda making me nervous, out of my territory! I’ll probably just pull a bunch of timing and work up to it. Im sure I’ll break stuff, probably trans. Or maybe spit the leafs out of it. Who knows. Ill post the quote when I get it.

Ohh yea and I pulled First place this year at Carlisle for prostreet and raced prepped all years.

Just read the thread. Fantastic journey, with its share of pitfalls. Nice to know I'm not the only one that goes through hell with projects.

Decided to pull the trigger on an INDY MAX 572. Going to build myself using some of the parts from my exsting motor. Keeping the street car vibe, but moving toward a Drag week theme as I want to start doing drag and drive events. Should start seeing parts showup around March. Cant wait!!

Started the journey to assemble and install the 572. Pulled the 440 last week and cleaned up the engine bay a bit. Pulled the trans for freshen up and trans brake.. pulled the heads to see what was wrong with the old motor and it looks like just head gasket. I will be reusing it in something else one day.

Working through some accessory Drive alignment issues with the Meizier water pump and double serpentine setup. Cam is in (finally got it from Comp) and installed at 109 centerline. Need to make a new valley plate as the one I have was cut down when installed on the 440 (decked block) AR engineering is not making this piece anymore so I’m having one made. Switching to a motor plate so that’s fun! Here are some pics.
