My 69 Road Runner

Nice progress! I used GooGone Automotive on my undercoating. I spayed it on heavy, covered it with plastic overnight. I then sprayed another heavy coat on the next day and covered it back up and let it sit overnight again. The next day I peeled it off with a plastic scraper. It came off with hardly any effort.

That stuff leaves a very oily residue. Any problems getting that cleaned off so primer would stick?

I haven’t shot primer over it yet but I did wipe the panels down with wax/grease remover. I plan on giving everything a good power washing and another wipe down with wax/grease remover before priming.

I finally had enough of scraping the POR off the bottom and called my blaster on Tuesday. Was quite surprised when he called back yesterday morning saying he could fit it in after lunch if that worked for me. Rearranged my schedule to make it work, and now we are off to the races to get it cleaned up and in primer.

A lot better having that sand outside than in a shop.....I found out the hard way.
No doubt about that, didn't work out for me this time however.

The guy doing the blasting was having a hard time getting into all the nooks and crannies with his big wand. That and the fact that the POR wasn't coming off the easiest in the hard to get spots and the sun was in his eyes made for a not so perfect job. He spent 3.5 hours on it and I could tell was getting frustrated. Usually this is a 2 hour gig.
So after getting it inside and looking it over I had to sleep on it as to how to proceed. Got out in the garage early the next morning and spent 13 hours re blasting the entire bottom in my makeshift paint booth in my garage with my Harbor Freight blaster. What a flippin mess. Spent a good chunk of Friday blowing the sand out of the car and cleaning up the garage. Today it is in epoxy and I believe I will sleep good tonight....

Baby steps, although I am a lucky man that my wife will even let me play in the garage for a few hours on Easter Sunday. Interior roof and buddy seat brackets got painted black today. I know the brackets are supposed to be body color, but I think that looks goofy with a black interior.

Was debating on using some kind of tinted bedliner on the bottom, but decided against that and went with base/clear instead. Going to get some undercoating sprayed in the rear wheel wells since everything is taped up yet, and then will be taking a much needed break from this project.

I had mine blasted in 2016 and to this day, whenever I wash the car I find little of piles of blasting media that works its' way out of the nooks and crannies. :)

Yeah, I flip the car on each side and blow air in all the openings probably 20 times. I keep thinking that there can't be anymore, but there always is. The rockers are the worst by far.

Got the undercoating from RestRick sprayed on.

Done as far as I am going on the body. My buddy can take care of the rest. I'm burned out and need a little time away from this project. Don't know how you guys do paint/bodywork for a living...

Got it off the rotisserie and back on my dollies. Added some support braces for the trailer ride it will be going on this summer.
