My charger restoration dream car

I just spent an enjoyable hot weekend in Las Vegas, with my wife at the MATS (Mopars at the Strip). After seeing all of those beautiful cars and watching the drag races, I am even more motivated to finish my car.
After spending many hours I finally finished my grill. Here are a few pictures of how it looks now.

Thank you. This car still overwhelms me when I try to think of all the things I need to do. I have just been taking one piece at a time and think how I can fix that piece.

Terrific work. Looks like a show piece.
Thank you, I can still see most of my repair spots but when I mount it on the car it will hide most of them.

I gave my painter my rear stripe dimensions for my car and was very excited to see how well they looked after he had painted them on. At first I could not figure out why it looked different than I thought it would. After I left I got to thinking and realize that he had put an extra 3/4" stripe in the middle. I had told him to put a 3/4" space in between the two wider stripes and he misunderstood and put it as an extra stripe. I am trying to decide to make him change it or just be different and leave it. He is doing a great job on my car and it would take time to fix it. It does look good.

Grill turned out great mate. I am not digging that middle stripe though, sorry..

I kinda like it. it would be very difficult to get the stripe out of the middle of that though. It doesn't look like it would be, but I can tell you that it will not be easy. only the purists will drive you crazy about it. the other guys won't even know what it is that they are looking at. But I think it is good.

I agree with you about that extra stripe. At first I was just excited to see stripes on my car but now it visually seems like a lot of busy stripes. I will be talking with the painter today to see what we can work out.

I had a couple mopar guys look at the car and they thought that it looked great and did not notice the extra stripe until it was pointed out. To fix it the paint will need to be sanded back down to the primer and all repainted. It will be a lot of work but in the long run I think I will be glad to have it fixed.

Quick update:

I had a lengthily discussion with my painter about my rear stripes (For 2 weeks we reviewed the options). He recognizes that he made a mistake with the stripes but says that most people will not notice. I told him that I would think about it. At first I thought that it would be OK to be different. I tried to tell myself that they were what I wanted. I took pictures and photoshoped the middle line out and many other options to modify the existing lines. I still did not like any of the modifications. It started to bother me and I realized that one of my favorite things about a 68 charger was the 68 style stripes. Bottom line - I told my painter to re-due the stripes to the correct 1968 charger dimensions. This may postpone my finished paint job but I am OK with that.

I am a happy kid.:hello2: I love these stripes. I will never regret having them changed and re-done.

Thank you, my painter has been doing a great job but he was sick when he realized what he did with the stripes. It was a big process and a lot of work to sand down and redo the job and do it right.

Grill looks great, one of my corners is gone also, good tips, thanks, stripes look better redone.

I brought my car back home today. I am excited to finally start putting this car back together again. It will still take some time and money to finish the rest. I am happy with the paint job. 105_3388.jpg

I have loved this color as long as I can remember and have always wanted a car this color. The color is 1970 Dodge Yellow.

How are you getting it off the trailer....just wondering

I put the trailer ramps down and five of us carefully walked it down the ramps. It is not very heavy and was easy to back off. I was using a come-along to get it on the trailer but found it easier to just hand push and pull it on.
