New 440 build issues

Looks a lot better then your first picture

With you going lean for a split second 18 when you mash the gas pedal , have you adjusted your air door

Air door could bee opening to soon or light spring on the adjustment

Have you even tried the Brawler 850
Yes you're right. I tightened it a bit. And not yet.
The Lunati was sent yesterday, do thinking I've played enough with this setup. Everyone's comments are wrong cam with the gearing and stall including the engine builder. I agree so no sense spending more time.
I'll start with this carb with new came as ill known what I have. Then move forward after that.
These are points I will start with.
- 72 GPH elec pump
- 21/35 all in timing
- carb as is now knowing what AFR i have currently.
- same dist.

Now I have a baseline to start, I'll report back after new cam is in. All I can do.

- also I have a set of 3.92 to install. So it should make a world of difference then.

Hey guys. New update.
Guess that's why they say to degree a cam..
Lol.
I'll do a Comp test to check for bent valves. Then degree the cam before removing. Looks like intake on all 8. I would say retarded cam? Scratches are the cheap scope.

Yes sir..sure does. Well let's hope valves are OK. Just pisses me off. I've worked so many hours to figure this out. Should have done this in the beginning. Not to mention extra $ spent.
New tank, pumps, 3500 stall change, 2 distributors, 2 carbs....ya. ohh well...lessons.
In any event it's the wrong cam anyway.
Stay tuned

The pushrods should bend before the valves.

All I know is I see flat top pistons

How far are they in the hole

I would bee talking more with your engine builder on a lot of questions

Update;
Hers what i found.
1st pic is at TDC found with piston stop numerous times.
2nd pic is his TDC marks and the degree wheel. Looks major retarded no? Tis why int hit pistons.

So in the end works out to be 43° retarded. All from not even finding TDC...wow...so that was the problem. Onward and upward..lunati goes in tomorrow. Glad wasn't more damage..could have been worse.
Thanks for all the help and comments...big learning lesson.

Did they screw up the alignment of the multiple keyway timing set or was it marked wrong?

No it's lined straight up. Pic 2 shows it's lined up, just not to TDC...lol.
Cam is out and seeing they didn't at least find TDC, this is the outcome. Remember, Mopar purple shafts in the last 10 years had been farmed out to the world. China, India etc...QA/QC was lost.
So as some members mentioned, always degree. I had no control as it was built. Seeing on a run stand I assumed all was good. Not the case on the road..lol

It is not uncommon for those multiple keyway sets to be marked wrong.
To install one of those and not degree it in is retarded...
Literally:BangHead:

Sorry but it sure looks to me like it was installed incorrectly.
The keyway is not vertical when the engine is at TDC it's about 45 deg. clockwise like your first picture. ( 43 maybe???)
You don't line up the cam gear dot with the keyway.
