So I'm trying to get the best setup before I install for a final deal.
Exact ones I have...maybe a 43 to start? You need a bigger accelerator pump shooter and/or move the link to the inside hole on an Edelbrock, or on a Holley style carb, possible a different pump cam, larger shooter and maybe a larger size pump.
If you are changing the carb out to this Brawler 850 you might as well wait to see what it does first. It may have a richer accelerator pump circuit on it that takes care of the problem.
If you decide to stick with an Edelbrock try moving the pump link to the inner hole and see if the AFR still spikes when you mash the gas. If it’s still high, but better, then see what size shooter jets you have on it and get a larger one.

True that. That's cool. One of the problems still is the 5-6" of idle vacuum. The carb is NOT too small.
The Plym in the link below ran 118 mph with Poly engine & small 2 bbl, lucky if it was 200 cfm.

Yes, I would try it. Have you actually driven the truck on the road? If so, does it bog or hesitate when you suddenly push the pedal to the carpet?Exact ones I have...maybe a 43 to start?
yes and sell the single plane and put on a rpm performer intake and help both more. That's what I'm thinking..get back some vacuum and bottom end
Yup. Been doing that all along. Nope doesn't bog at all. When I do a brake stand, it goes to about 3000 only when I let loose. Makes lots of noise for the neighbors and launches with no tire spin. Revs up to whatever until the 2nd gear kicks out then keeps going but feels less power then getting there. If that makes sense?Yes, I would try it. Have you actually driven the truck on the road? And ultimately figure out the low idle vacuum, and less cam or more gear.
Took your advice and have a 7193 coming as well.yes and sell the single plane and put on a rpm performer intake and help both more.
I think you will need a fuel pressure regulator with that fuel pumpTook your advice and have a 7193 coming as well.
So lunati, 72 GPH elec pump, either AVS2 or Brawler, eddy 7193. Even with 3.23 and 3500 stall, should finally wake it up.
Already inI think you will need a fuel pressure regulator with that fuel pump
Well was a reputable machine shop, so I can't question that. He's been doing heads for 40 yrs and just recently retired. Race engines the bit, so I'm pretty good with that.Ok 2 things still bother me lol. that converter is just slipping and eating up power with 3.23 gears. The other thing might not be true but those heads if not done right with bigger valves and being hog out and losing their velocity will kill bottom end torque.
Well, if it’s not actually bogging when you mash the gas in first gear then I don’t guess I would worry about that 18” spike in the AFR.Yup. Been doing that all along. Nope doesn't bog at all. GTX has 3.91 and was going use this stall. But I can't put it in until I get this solved.
My builder buddy just sent the Lunati. So I'll degree this one for my peace of mind before switching. Would like to know cause it sounds like it may be retarded.
when they go lean like that using smaller rods for the cruise mode will help. go one step like 73 to a 70 see if that helpsWell, if it’s not actually bogging when you mash the gas in first gear then I don’t guess I would worry about that 18” spike in the AFR.
AVS are in the 60's but ill try that. Thankswhen they go lean like that using smaller rods for the cruise mode will help. go one step like 73 to a 70 see if that helps
AVS2 I should say..lolAVS are in the 60's but ill try that. Thanks
I'm still leaning toward a retarded cam install? Just seems like it.....AVS2 I should say..lol
then you would need a 1430# rod 62x52 stock is 65x52AVS2 I should say..lol
Yuup...and I reordered 15.0 at idlethen you would need a 1430# rod 62x52 stock is 65x52
