Hi Hawk,
Thanks for posting the photos, seats look great. Am sure your right and material will stretch out nicely.

Cheers Ron, yes the end is in sight. Be quite a few more updates till then though.

overdue update

I have been slack, so here goes.
Ordered some non-molded carpet and have it fitting good, 4-speed hump needs tweeking.
Brakes bleed and working once I adjusted the shoes in.
Radiater in, plumbing done , wiring hooked up. Fitted old exhaust system.
Start-up attemped and achieved. Would not run for any lenght of time. Fuel supply issue ? fuel pump faulty ? tried new pump and still no go. Friend said pressurise tank, still poor flow, decided to blow air back to tank and the problem showed its self. No bubbling noises. pick-up too far off the bottom of the tank. Added some fuel hose to pick-up and car RUNS. Even went for a drive up and down the side road in front of my house. Very happy.

Cut speaker holes in rear parcel shelf, it is ready to be covered in black vinyl.
Have straightened door cards by re-soaking them in water and them placing weights on them while they dry out. Also had to make some patches out of 1mm alloy to repair clip holes. Have now painted them and the rear cards , black.
Inside of doors have been painted black, they are now ready to go on car.
Have fitted a number of small items such as interior mirror, lettering, etc.
Washed seatbelts, have been able to find some original retractor belts, thanks Hawk.
Next to do are - repair bumpers/ finish the hood/ strip seats and clean frames in readiness for my new covers ( big thanks to Hawk).
Local annual car show is in 1 month, plan to get car there by driving or trailer.

Looking good Tony. Good idea on the door trims too, mine aren't real bad but could do with a bit of tweeking. I might have to take them off again and chase up some thin alloy as you suggested. I always see these fixes after I've put things on. At least I'm getting plenty of assembly practice.

You've been busy - looks great!

That is a great idea to straighten door panels that are warped by water - if they were warped by water why not straighten them out with water? Make great sense.

Good luck making your car show dates - I'll get on with packing those seat covers so I don't hold you up...

Pressure is on

Too many things on the go.
Missing seat belts arrived along with my new seat covers, big thankyou to Hawk.
Been media blasting the hood,
Making trim fastners,
Cleaning and painting parts,
Exhaust system done.

Hey, I recognize those seat belts!

For the car show, focus on the important stuff first like seats, trunk, hood, etc. If the small stuff isn't done for the car show, who cares? Bring the car anyway!

Good luck and keep plugging away at it!

Hawk

Man the car is looking awesome, everything is really coming together. The car show will be fun for you!

Thanks for the incourgement guys, as you say Hawk focus on the big jobs.

Got the doors and 1 guard on.

Car is looking great. I bet that thing is an eye popper when you get it in the sun.

X-2!!! OH Yea! Beautiful, sun glasses available for shows sign needed :)

Today I talked my partner into helping my re-cover the rear seats. We did well they look great.

You'll have to post some pics Tony. The rest is looking really good.

seats

Sorry for the no photo post.

One of my partners friends was real keen to get in on the seat recovering action , so she helped me do a front seat Back. We did great, cover a little loose near headrest but hard to see why. My plastic covers were real bad, took a wire brush to them to remover the powdery top layer. We have made a start to cover them with vinyl.
Bumpers need replacing, for now I have had them acid dipped and galvinised. Have etch primed and them heavy coats of spray putty. Will apply filler then prime and paint, either VC, matt black or a combo. Will buy new chrome later-on.
Rear of cabin coming together.

Good progress there Tony! I am hoping the inside of my car will look similar soon, although I have gotten bogged down with playing with seat belts.

One step at a time - you'll get there!

Hawk

Thanks Hawk, yea know what you mean about getting bogged down. The bonnet is getting the better of me.

Got the drivers guard on , all lined up good. Trunk lid on also but it is sitting real close on the driver side. Wondering if I have got the arms/stays on the correct sides ?

Seat bases repaired.

I think a little fine tuning with the deck lid and it will be ok.... The arms inside, you could try to adjust them into where its the way you want...
