It's coming together - Looking good!!!

...and the deal about you spending more time on the car than at work: That's the way it is supposed to be!!!

tony things are coming together for you real quick, that looks great, great reward for all the hard work you put in on your car, tony do you remember when you removed your clutch and brake pedal assembly it has 5 1/2 inch bolts to remove from the floor, how did you remove the bolt that is in the middle of the assembly, that is a problem i have right now.i tried a 3/8 extension with 1/2 socket and i can not get it to fit on bolt so i can turn it,the 3/8 extension is kinda preventing it from grabbing the bolt, its kinda tight there and if socket goes then i can not turn the extension.it works it way off the bolt, how did you handle that? thanks

Show Time

Hi moparjohnny, can not recall offhand so will have a look at my car in next couple of days and report back.

Painted last couple of bits on thurs.
Put some 1pm to 11pm days in . All paid off today when I transported my 70 RR to its first show . My home town of 45,000 has 1 show over summer. Took my 73 Challenger on Saturday, ran into the guy whom I brought my RR from and he offered to come out with his truck and take the RR in on Sunday. Was way better than a trailer. Was a great turn out of American mopars and we were able to park together. We decided to leave it on the truck bed of effect and it paid off when I WON the trophy for best Restoration project.
Lot of the bits on my car look secure but a only held in place with half number of required fastners..
Will take a couple of dats off and then final push to get it legal on the road.

Bumpers will stay black until I can import a new pair. Hood shin has been media blasted, epoxyed , 1st fill and guide coated.

Great pics Tony, it must have been a helluva buzz to pick up that trophy too. Well done.

Way to go Tony! Nice to see it made it to the show, of course, now I am jealous because you already have a trophy and I got squat (smile).

Like you said, just a few items to finish it up and then get it on the road. Looks like I need to get on my game a bit better to try and catch up with you (and Glenn too, for that matter)!

Seriously, very cool and I am sure you had a great time. Congratulations on making a major milestone!

Thanks Glenn and Hawk, was a fun weekend. Lots of positive comments.
Made some repairs to front light buckets.

Rear light bracket does not match bumper holes ?

Circled it gets real hot when car is running. What is this and should it get hot ?

Drill a hole in floor pan so I could refill the gearbox , will rubber bung the hole.

Does the rear bumper reverse lights have a insert to fill in the gap between the light and the bumper ?

OK, here we go:

1) Rear license plate bracket: It won't fit because it is wrong for your car. I will try to get a picture of the correct unit.

2) Circled item: That is your horn relay. It should not get hot, so something is not right with your horn or horn circuit. I would unplug it until you get the horn sorted out.

3) Gearbox: LOL. OK you're done, and that's one way to solve the problem! Other way is to get a jar with two holes in it, fill it with fluid, and put a hose in one hole to the plug, and compressed air on the other hole. The compressed air will force the gear oil up into the transmission.

4) Do the reverse lights have a filler? Answer: No. The tabs in your bumper should be bent so the lights are centered in the opening. That's it!

Now let me go see if I can find a picture of the license plate light...

I thought I had a spare, but couldn't find it. I took a picture of the one on my car, but it is a bit hard to see and it is -11 C (12 F) in my garage - too cold to take anything apart.

Here is a picture of the light assembly:

Here is the reverse light:

None of these are great pictures, but hopefully they help...

Good Luck!

Bugger. After seeing your pic Hawk, I only just realised that I'm missing my licence plate light. Didn't even think to check for it. :eusa_doh:

Cheers Hawk,
Pictures are great. Am sure that was the bumper light that came off the car. My bumper was very rusty so the area around the reverse light must have rusted away.
The horn is not attached so will do that. Then will see if it has be on the whole time and therefore over heating. Have got an old school auto sparky coming to look at car on Tuesday.
I should have asked about filling the gearbox, your method looks great, DAMM .
Just had a **** moment, fitting the 'roadrunner' badges after painting the edges and one of the studs twisted off, ****.
Thanks for the help Hawk.
Hi Glenn, have you been watching any of the cricket. I am doing some car bits now while the Black Caps play England.

The light looks completely wrong. The light fixture should be a round, clear dome. On my picture, it looks a bit silver, but it is clear plastic. I am sure you can adapt that light or something else until you can get a correct one.

From what little I know of cricket, your car should be done before the game is! :icon_tongue:

You are doing well to know anything about cricket Hawk, am impressed. Long version takes 5 days, this game on now takes up to 7 hrs. Can be like watching paint dry.
Will make an adaption plate for light.
Reason horn relay was hot was that the horn was constantly on, have fixed this.

Don't worry about that...the NZ Black Caps thrashed England with almost half the allotted time left to play :headbang:

Tony, your car looks great, congrats on winning the show.

I love your car, you've really done a great job on it.

Nothing like putting the finishing touches on a couple of car bits whilst watching your team winning on the tele. :eek:ccasion14:

Great! Another item sorted - good job with the progress on the car! My work in the garage has been stalled for about two weeks due to the weather. I'm hoping for some warmer weather very soon so I can make some more progress on mine...
