Nz 70 rr

Thanks Ron, this song will definitely be on my play list.

High stop tail light in and working. Checked bolts and split pins on underside.
Swapped over the rims and tires from my challenger, 15" ralley's.
Picked up my wiper motor, dimmer switch and fan speed resistor for auto sparky. Fixed and fitted.

Ready for testing. Fingers crossed the list ot fixes is a short one.

Ill cross my fingers if ya think it will work but ill bet its going to work great anyway bud!!!

Thanks for the support guys, good vibes always help.

Been an anxious wait the last couple of days . Got the phone call at 4.45pm today. FAIL. I never expected it to pass, was hoping the list of fixes to be doable. Pick her up tomorrow and will have an in depth chat on what needs fixing.
Fails - brake and fuel lines need to be secured better and held away from the body.
- brakes failed because I forgot to remove the paint from the inside of the drums. After they were blasted the operators painted everywhere.
- windshield washer failed to work
- 2 wheel studs were loose
- 1 park light/ indicator failed to work
- Exhaust system was rubbing on the clutch adjustment bolt and muffler touched driveshaft when rear of car weighed down.

More info tomorrow. All fixable so happy.

Hi Tony,

So besides the pain of having to take the car back to have it re-inspected, I would still consider those items to be pretty minor. Clean up some overspray paint, a couple of electrical and other minor fixes and you are good to go. Nice!

Get on that list and let's get a few shots of her on the road!

Hawk

Good call Hawk.
Picked her up yesterday in the rain, no leaks in the cabin. Cleaned inside brake drums so will test those today. Start to work my way through the list. Plan to retest in a weeks time all going well.

Making great progress on the list, just got the wheel studs (today), brake imbalance ( maybe today), and wheel alignment( this week) to go.

2 new studs in and secure.
Wheel alignment done today.
Friend and I tried to balance brakes yesterday, could not do it. Am getting the shoes re-lined tomorrow or fri. . Been finishing all the small jobs that were not important for the compliancing.

Finally ready for re-test. Balancing the front Drums been doing my head in. Friend came out today and we checked everything, found nothing wrong. There is still a slight pull to left at times. Will have to wait and see what the readings are when it gets on the 'rolling road' brake tester. Won't sleep much tonight.
Done a few laps around the block to try and bed the shoes in. Lot different than driving my 73 Challenger, no power brakes or steering, and changing gears with the right hand a bit weird.
Hope tomorrows post will be a Yeeha one.

Thanks Jase, Glenn and Hawk.
:upside down: Roadrunner is Legal, party at my place. Got there and first thing he said was "car is not ready" and I think **** still not up to standard. What he meant was the paper work was not finished, that was a relief. Get behind the wheel tomorrow lunch time, will do the insurance thing , then head to nearest Gas Station, then drive this Roadrunner as it was born to do.:eek:ld_school:
Support from forum members has definitely helped get me over the line with 1 week to spare, will get some road miles on her but all looks good for our trip to the Whangamata Beach Hop, a 5 day 50's,60's early 70's car party. Yeehaa.

LOL. I say the same thing when I have to use my left hand!

Good luck with the inspection!!!

Being ambidextrous is definitely an advantage.

Nice work getting compliance Tony :headbang:

Thanks kiwigtx, as you will know getting legal is not easy sometimes, the guy who did the compliance was a great, tough but fair.

That's just how it should be....like the WOF testing - tough but fair is good in my book. :icon_thumright: Good luck on the trip to Beach Hop this year...I will probably give it a miss this time...too much going on.
