Nz 70 rr

color

Hi Ron 73, Propwash,
Sorry for the slow responce, I too have been real keen to see some color.

The wait is over. Break in the wet weather meant I could transport it 1 mile around the road to a friends garage/spray booth. Outside temp was 58F , inside 68F. Using a 2K paint that has no nasty Iso's in it. My friend and I were realy impressed with its coverage , ease of use and finished look. I am no pro painter and tend to take too long, but the car looks great. Was meant to do inside trunk and engine bay, will complete tomorrow.

That is one beautiful looking car! I have always loved the RR and this is my wife's favorite from time past but this looks like a piece of candy for adults, no matter what your favorite is, Its picture perfect to look at it! I cant even imagine being at this point in the build, You sure have a lot to be proud of here, whoever did the spraying i commend looking at the pictures!!! This has to feel more then great even knowing its a long way to the finish.. Very nice... :icon_syda:

Thanks for the words of incouragement Ron. I am proud to say I was on the end of the spraygun, the paint I used did all the hard work, I was skocked how easy it was to use and how it covered and had great shine. Still along way to go as you say, panels need lots of sanding.

Got the Diff media blasted and primed. Did it myself as i had couple of afternoons spare. Also primed the trunk lid.

Got some parts ready to take to media blaster, bit rusty for my small unit.

Lookin Good NZ. Painting scares me but pat yourself on the back. It came out great.

Yes sir everything is looking great! I don't have a big shop so some things i improvise, I have a differential and leaf springs sitting outside by my garage and i have been doing the media blasting out there, I need to go get more sand i just cant afford to buy it from Eastwood which i was doing... Then i can get mine primed and painted, Im sure when your all done with this 70 you will get a lot of satisfaction being the one who sprayed her!!! I know i did with all my cars, My 73 is the one i think about most to be honest, I bought the car because it was in such good shape and i never liked the body style and the more i worked on it, the more i liked it and now, I know ill never sell the old thing, its a fake, yep, but its my fake and making memory's like my old cars did back in the day! Keep going, you sure are doing a great job bud and i mean that.. I sure see some quality work done hear, its addictive to think about this resto thread! :)

From past and hopefully my next ride i have to say that once we, you, do that kind of work, experience the spray gun even with little jobs like doing the differential and the leaf springs ( one of my present jobs ) means a lot once a car is finished! I have always loved my rides more when i am the one doing it, Its just the idea of looking at the car when its finished and knowing you are the one who did it, just makes it a more fun and exciting car that really is your own, To be honest i think anyone who puts there heart and mind in it, can do it, If not we wouldn't even undertake the job, some do i know because its a money making job, nothing wrong with that or we wouldn't want to have or start one to begin with and ones who doesn't have the time but does have the finances to do it CAN get it done because of them, The guy who started AMD did it im sure to make money, but ill bet he is a classic car lover! Yep, It will take some sanding to get her done so the body has the shine of a mirror, These are such big cars that it takes some work to do it and this link will show you a sanding block that will help, Its longer and will give you some nice sanding for these long panels on it... You are doing a great job and i bet when shes done, It will be a sweet looking classic! :)

Saw you sandblasted the car. Didn't you found a lot blasting material in the rockers, etc? Keep up the good work! :hello2:

That Vitamin C Orange is killer, that 70 car looks amazing from where you have brought her, I bet your feeling might good about your progress.

NICE work!

Great job so far! Never have been a huge fan of Orange but your car it looking really good. Perhaps the way that shade is coming up on my screen ? Whatever, I like your look here.

I hope that when I get my car to the point of spraying that same color, that it will come out looking as fantastic as yours is.

Your painting abilities look fantastic to me. That color looks awesome on the car. Its got to be a good feeling to finally have it to this point.

First I must apologize for my late thanks to those who have taken the time to make a comment on my restoration. Really appreciate the feedback.
I was also scared Bigblock61 about painting, but practice and patience is the key.

Thanks for the link to the sanding block Ron73.

Hi Chargerjase, Been using Resene(NZ brand) for priming, mainly there epoxy primer.

hay dickdale, yes was media in rockers but with car on a rottisory and always being rotated to be worked on, most of it fell out.

Thanks for liking the Orange and my painting skills Propwash, plumgtx, MT_Mopar, Darius, roadrunnerman, and hunt2elk .

Tony
