Our car hobby just got a stay of execution

Not polical at all. It is fact based on public statements and history. Read into it what you will.

On a happier note..... golf is safe for at least four and a half years..... longer hopefully.

I guess I'm not as pessimistic as most. Oil is still a very effective and cheap commodity. The world will be counting on it for decades yet despite the waning euphoria over EV's.

In my state,no gasoline vehicles were going to be allowed to be registered by 2040,but they could implement it sooner if they chose to do so. They banned new car gasoline vehicle sales by 2035.

That's lunacy. Legislation like that is why Blue lost. A subsequent administration would likely modify or eliminate that.

Battery tech isn't there yet. The Northeast is due for a really cold winter. When it comes, watch all the EV batteries struggle in the cold.

Got your crystal ball out eh? I don't see anything being banned. The real story is just time and attrition. Kids are less likely to want to spend hours in a garage restoring/fixing a 40-60 yr old car. Those of us born in the 50-60-70's are finding it harder to crawl under the car.
I mainly race nostalgia events, kind of like going to an old folks reunion sometimes, but still have fun. Got a buddies 63 Dodge NSS car going and we took it to the strip for a test and tune to see what bugs were present. And I was surprised at all the young people there. They just like different stuff, twin turbo, prochargers etc. I don't understand where they get the money to build such engines but I have to admit they are pretty fast.
