Propane

Was your supplier Amerigas by any chance? I had a similar experince with them and went with a local independant guy,

I wanted to install a 250 gallon tank by the house after our renovation but the code said it has to be so many feet from the house. Well that would have put it in the woods. But, now here is the crazy part, I can stick a 100 gallon tank by the house and attach as many 100 gallon tanks next that as I want and tie them all together
Crazy

got a call from Ferrell gas apologizing for the issue, and wanting a return call, an actual human, imagine that. sick of these too big companies that set up these automated b/s phone systems with no customer service until you walk away, and then you get human communication. again :icon_fU: them.

got a heater on my ac unit a kind of heat pump I guess so kicked it on, will see how much juice it sucks up

If you smell Mercaptan, you may have a leak. I'd definately check all your lines and equipment before restarting anything.
In Alabama if you run out of propane, by law the propane company is to relight any pilot lights and check for any leaks. The company I use refills more often than necessary, but it costs the same amount anyway so I don't care.

They fill up propane tanks to 75-80% which is at least 400 gallons. Thats a lot of propane to go through in only three weeks!
Here is a propane ticket for almost 4 weeks at the mansion I manage. They last filled it right before Thanksgiving but there supposed to be there every 2 weeks. Twin 1,000 gallon tanks so each tank had about 80 gallons left… To close for comfort as it was getting colder so they got reamed for not showing up on time. It was not really even that cold it’s just a huge place over 11,000 square feet and very old…

Looks like my $1800 oil bill I got today, last filled 39 days ago. Gotta remember to turn the shop heat down when I'm not in there!

Great price, my last fill was about 35 cents a gallon more, but was only about 120 gallons.

they used to do that here most new stuff has auto light no pilot lt.

a house about a mile down the road from me used to have fuel oil, they ended up getting a propane furnace installed. a fuel oil guy was on a delivery went to that house by mistake and found the old fuel oil cap on the outside of the house, well the owner put a padlock on it just in case, well the driver broke the lock and pumped 200 gallons of fuel oil into there basement where the tank used to be, long story short house and foundation was completely removed and replaced, never heard about the guy and the fuel oil company again

Yes very wealthy. Nice people to work for been there since I was 14 so 40 years. They had a large estate in New York in Adirondacks and a huge home in St John. Funny thing is they stayed in St. John every winter for 3-4 months and heated the house like they were living there so I have actually seen $5,000 propane bills for a month when it was priced higher and colder. Sadly he passed 2 years ago and his widow who is 81 just sold the Estate along with the rental properties. So she is gone to a $850,000 Condo she bought down on the Main line end of April and my wife and I take over for the new owners.
