The 65 Plymouth going to the chassis shop for a new moly Roll cage. Just up in the air if I want to put the funny car cage in it or not.

awesome build!! why not go with the funny car cage ? more weight ?

That plus the fact I am still running with the stock steering wheel. Don't know if I can fit between the cage and steering wheel. My steering wheel isn't removable. It's only about $400.00 more to add on too.

Your telling me that your steering wheel is removable between rounds?

Not between rounds, when I get in and out of the car, lol. It comes off with a push of the button.

Care to share who makes that trick piece?. That's the hot ticket right there.

So the 65 Plymouth is finally getting the moly cage installed after all these years. I've hated it ever since I bought it. the guy who owned it must have been a midget.
the front halo bar was right in my eyes. it's all ripped out and getting a nice new one. still deciding if I should put the funny car cage in it. I have 2 days to decide. yes or no?

Forgot to mention, the old cage was mild steel and the welds were horrible. C & F Race Cars is getting the job done.
There were a lot of extra bars that were not needed and should be losing 50 lbs. off the car.

i PLAN ON GOING TO AN ALUMIUNMN BLOCK, AS SOON AS I HIT THE LOTTERY. MAYBE TONIGHT!!!!

DVW What's that trick setup costing? I could use one in my 65 AWB

The shift bowl is stock with the guts removed. The Three on the tree nub was cut off and the remaining hole opened for button access. Hub is $32 at Summit.

Inner hex welded to the shaft. I swapped the stock shaft to .083"x.750" moly tube to reduce weight. Machined a step on the hub face for a flat circular plate. That plate was welded to hub. Bowl was then epoxied to the flat washer as it's only decorative. Drill holes through the wheel and bolt it to the hub.

Put the FC cage in it. It's a bigger process to add on later than it seems. Plus it doesn't have to be all that space intrusive. Look at all the cage styles out there. Even in pro stock most drivers heads are even with the forward vertical bar, so you could really keep it pretty tight to the main hoop, lots of options/interpretations.

I did my cage in moly, put the kidney bar and roof bars in, but left out some of the "other" bars for 25.5 cert, now with the interior completely done, everything painted, it was a stupid move. Should have done it all at once. Good luck man.

That's what my chassis shop said exactly. I just don't know if I really need it and i'm trying to get weight out of the car plus this is my weekly bracket car. yes I did build a bigger stronger engine. I want easy entry and exit.
thanks for the reply.
