What did you do to your Mopar today?

Adjusted the timing, made some carb changes and detailed it.
Running sweet now!

Replaced the trunk lock. Paid about $20 including shipping at Rock Auto. It even came with Chrysler logo on the keys.

Took an open 489 center section with 3.55 gears over to garage along with a rebuilt sure-grip unit to have them put together and set up. This will replace the 3.23 open rear end that's on the R/T now.

Painted a test hood to get some gun time and verify my primer and prep technique is viable.

Only problem I had was orange peel.

Coating, hardness, etc were great.

Surprised no runs or sags.

More reducer or more air pressure should cure the peel effect.

I feel better about using the gun already.

Picked up my now sure-grip 489 center section with 3.55 gears! One day service - can't beat that. Now I've got to go eat my Wheaties to get enough strength to crawl under and get it installed - but that'll have to wait. Have the SSBC front disc brake kit to install in it first.

I got to drive my 1973 Charger under it's own power for the first time! I rebuilt the engine and transmission all by myself!

Over the past two days, picked up my balanced and straightened driveshaft and with new Ujoints, had green bearings pressed on my rear axle shafts, and installed new rear brake shoes and had the drums turned.

Just got back from a test drive, no more vibrations and car stops much better. Hitting the strip on Saturday

Installed the new Autolite spark plugs sent to me this week - ATL-86 like many members here use. I had used NGK BP5 in the past, and today we removed a set of Champion RJ14Y plugs....they looked pretty good given that I have been running a higher octane pump gas lately. So while my good buddy MowPar changed out my plugs, I replaced a couple of light fittings and installed PIR detectors outside his shop for a bit more security.

Some before and after shots of the lights, and the car after a 15 mile "blast around the block".

My first time using a GoPro - took a while to set up, and am still working on the attachment pieces.

The car pulls a lot harder now, and is very responsive. Sadly the GoPro ran out of battery to capture the run.....next time.

You guys gotta be careful. All those crazy bastards driving on the wrong side of the road!!! LOL, car sounds nice.

Yeah!!! And I'm one of them ...lol - and thanks.
Forgot to mention that the colour of MowPar's Shop is as close as he could get to HEMI Ornage. :)

Painted the test hood again.

Went up 5 psi on the gun and added 25% more reducer.

Also went slower moving the gun.

Better but still not what I want.

I'm gaining a **** pile of respect for paint and body guys.

It's funny with painting. You either have the feel, work at it and get the feel, or never do....and struggle with every thing you touch. I've seen them all over the tears. When I was young and doing that stuff, I was lucky...the first car I shot[for real], turned out perfect. I BS'd my way into painting corporate limo's for GM. Hess and Eisenhardt coachworks built them for GM. I shot 4 cars a night.

Got a set of used clicks and aluminum wheels and headed to the 50th Annual Barona Antique Drags with my son for my first hits with the RR.

Butchered the first pass with a cold motor and ran a 9.25 @ 84mph before getting settled in and getting better each pass. Last pass was a decent 8.21 @ 86.6 mph. I definitely need to work my reaction and 60' times. Should be able to get in the high 7's with a few tweaks. I was able to get my son in the car on the third and 4th passes before being told he couldn't ride along in quicker than 10 sec passes. He had a blast and took a couple of videos for me. Had a great time and made some new friends at the track.cant wait fir the next outing!
