What did you do to your Mopar today?

Took it to a local car show. Anybody else go to the NWTC show in Green Bay today?

I actually did some work today and yesterday. I put in a mini tach, but didn't realize when I bought it, it wouldn't mount above the ten thirty position. Took out the back seat, to remove the package shelf, to repaint it, and installed a third brake light, that was made for a mid 2000 Blazer. Installation required drilling three holes in the steel panel, then running wires up to to the stop light switch. I did have to shim the fixture up, so it was more visible, over the bottom of the window. I use a piece of 3/8 plexiglass for the shim. Looks good in there, plus it's an added measure of safety because it's more noticeable, to drivers following me. The B post has two cast chrome strips, at the bottom, that trims off the vinyl roof. I picked up a re-chromed set a while ago. So that worked out with taking the package tray out, and installing the third brake light. So far I have put only twenty miles on here since buy her. Hope to change all that soon.

Got the Driver Front quarter panel molding holes welded up and ground flush . . . getting it ready to go to Epoxy Primer . . .

And the same for the Passenger Side Quarter Panel - except the antenna - still not too sure what I will do there . . . yet . . .

What I did to my Mopar today? Had it towed home on a flatbed. That's what I did!

Went for a short ride to get fuel and give it a bath. Trying to get out in traffic after fueling up, it died. Would turn over but no fire! Lifted hood, made sure all wires were tight, it fired up, I closed the hood, it stalled. I could see how this was going to work. It did that three more times. I figured then, it's time to get it home..towed.

Once home, I got it back in the garage, packed up my truck, went to camp and drank beer!

I'll get after it Monday night! Hopefully I'll have a better, what did you do to your Mopar then! Lol!

Sold the Lebaron to a young-gun. Very nice/polite young guy, wearing a Marine-Corp hoodie. He really digs it.

Finally got most of the orange peel out of my painting technique.

Now I can see all the dust and crap that falls into the paint when you don't have a booth.

...and found a (wait for it...) HVLP spray gun in the dumpster.

Crazy timing on stuff like that. Vaper brand with 1.7 tip and large aluminum cup.
Taken apart and needs reassembled, but looks like all there. Tip and cup interchange with the gun I already have.

Got the 'X out into the light of day for the first time in a while and continued extracting the rear wheel house.....what a bitch of a job that is! The stand/frame I made is working great!

Well today I got my 1973 Charger licensed and insured.... I'm 18 but miraculously because I haven't moved out yet insurance is $17 a month for me... and plates are $35. Good day! I drove it down town today and I couldn't believe how many people were staring and admiring the car. I stopped at maverick, and got some funny looks filling up the tank behind the license plate, and they guy behind the register walked out of the store and asked if the car was for sale! How crazy is that? I'm just loving the attention my car is getting!

Replaced the battery in my A100....not a bad run to get 9 years out of a battery these days.

Don't get your hopes up on the paint gun, Summit sells those pretty cheap and the one I bought for touch up is about ready to be thrown in the dumpster too. I've got a nice HVLP gun but still prefer my Binks siphon gun.

I went out in the garage and looked at mine as it continues to rain nonstop..... that's it!:(

Get used to it, these old Mopars atract some attention and open up the doors to more friendships and sometimes a lead on the next project. That's awesome that your getting in at such a young age.:)

My wife used to daily drive a 73 318 Challenger back in the late 80's and was always getting offers to buy it but one day some moron tried to get her to stop because he wanted to look it over. He followed her home and even pulled into the driveway behind her. She had called me on her cell phone crying and told me about it and was just a couple of minutes from home so I told her when she got here to just run it into the garage as I would have it open. Now it takes a lot to make my wife cry so I knew there was something more going on than someone looking the car over while going down the road.

Our driveway is over 120' from the street to the garage and she came in a bit hot and I met the moron head on in the middle of the drive with a .45 daring him not to stop. "My wife is crying and you're on my turf now you asshole and the police are on the way." He tried to explain that he was interested in buying the car and yada yada yada and that's when I chambered a round. He got the message that the car wasn't for sale. The cops showed up just as he was leaving so they turned around and went after him. Don't know what all took place because I never heard from him again. I also told the cops that I pulled a gun on him after he insisted on talking about the car and how he made my wife cry while harassing her on the road.

Btw, I cleaned all the crap off the Belvedere one more time on the 8th. If it becomes a big junk collector one more time, it's going to get sold. It's been sitting way too long and I ain't getting any younger...

I used to drive mine all the time too until I got this hair brain idea to tear it apart to drop in a big block with a stick.....

You need a 6 speed! Getting nearly 20 mpg on the freeway and putting twice the miles on it now even with a 456 stroker.

Planning on that now. Originally planned to go NSS racing and running C/FX (9.75 index) with a stick was what I was shooting for and bought a Jerico box many years ago. It was new when I bought it and it's still new (unused) but the humidity has done some cosmetic work to it. It's not rusted or anything like that but the nice shine of the new metal doesn't have that new shine anymore. I'm on the Gulf Coast and only 9 miles from Galveston Bay and in the summer time in the late afternoons early evening, the humidity goes up fast. Anyways, plans changed and so did the money so a new plan was put into place to build a serious street/strip car. Now I'll be happy with just having a street car lol. Bad part is that the car has been part way together twice and I'm about to start a 3rd time!
