What did you do to your Mopar today?

Ordered pieces and parts today. Conical exhaust manifold stud washers. An engine dipstick and tube assembly. Air cleaner wing nut and the hose and clamps that go between the oil vent cap and the air cleaner.
This is the first money I spent on her this year. In fact the car didn't make it on the road all summer. I'm building a 78' 440 for her. I was going to retain the stock pistons, but the more I thought about it I wouldn't have gotten the engine together and in the car till next spring anyway. So I'm going to keep squirreling away cash away, to buy a set of notched pistons to be installed this spring. I have a rusty inner left fender to replace, torsion bars and lower control arm bushing to replace. So that will keep the project tied up for the winter. Then if my luck holds out the engine short block will go to the machine shop. I did get the heads redone this summer. Had twenty K shaved off them and a couple of new exhaust studs replaced as the old ones were broken. I have a replacement trans and a kit to do also. Need to figure out what range of high stall type converter to use yet. Still, need a power steering box, but that can wait till the drive train is done. Projects go slow when you're on retirement pay.

Heading for paint/bodywork this weekend so it's time to remove chrome.

Installed the right side upper LCA and spindle with backing plate for a 10" drum with long lugs. Yeah, I know....but it's supposed to be mostly a drag car and you don't need a whole lot of front brake on them. If nothing else, it will be able to roll on it's own wheels if I have to sell it. :(

Pulled carbs off crossram to restrict idle circuit some more to reduce or stop plug fouling.

Everything off for paint job, but the bumpers. Jeez these look really plain w/o any chrome, I mean really, really plain; almost not a car! Oh the bumpers coming off tomorrow. Maybe Fran needs some more hi-rpm runs? Lol.

What if you have to slow down on the top end? Lol.

Let's see some pic's.

Today was a beautiful Fall day in the mid 60's and the end of my vacation; so in celebration I took the 440 out for a spin. The big block LOVES this cool weather so a couple of WO throttle runs through the country were very pleasing.
