What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Rescued a pooped/cold humming bird.
On way to truck after work the other day I noticed a 'spot' on a wall that turned out to be a gassed little birdy.
I picked it up & she tilted her head back with the most pitiful, barely audible chirps.
Got her in the shop, wrapped her in a rag & sped home to the heater.
I thought she had died when I looked at her in the house as she didn't open her eyes or move at all when relocating her.
While she warmed by the stove I fetched in a feeder and checked her every few minutes. In about 15 minutes her eyes opened and there was movement.
About 10 minutes after that she revived & flew to the kitchen window where I hung the feeder.
She landed on my hand a few times then I transferred her on to the feeder perch where she spent a nice warm night.
The next day I came home from work when it got sunny and put her & the feeder back on the apple tree where she sunned herself & the took off with a flurry of very loud, boisterous chirpings.

Praising the LORD that something went well lately!
God bless you sir, such a wonderful post. I think you made a friend for life there. I really like the part about the boisterous chirps, her saying thank you, and I’ll be just fine now!

Had crab legs at the MiL's last night. Here is the aftermath.

Today's just starting, so eating some frizzled ham & eggs leftover from last night. Then go pour some diesel on the wood in the fireplace, and then light a match. Maybe watch a football game, take a nap, I haven't gotten there yet? Outside of that I'm doing absolutely nothing today!

Mocked up my daughters door, top two pieces are in, now for the rest, then poly, then flip and cut then more poly... I hate poly... And pink, can believe my wife agreed to this color

I had surgery on my left shoulder this morning at 6:am...
35 year old injury... rotator cuff, torn bicep, socket cleaning... It sucked up my entire day :popcorn2:

Getting cut is never fun and PT is a drag.
If it makes pain go away it's worth it.

Hope it went well for you. Get in for PT ASAP. Ignore the pain, and push through it. Had both of mine done, and I'm good till the finish, barring another injury ?
Skip the pain meds, and have a few drinks instead, you'll be further ahead, Good Luck !!!

Had the skin doctor at the Mather VA do a "Scrape and Burn" on two skin cancer carcinomas this afternoon.
One on my chest, and the other on my upper back, left side.

My advice to membership is to get checked out regularly, if you have a history of skin cancers, or in your family.

Pretty sure the DNR lied when they said they put out extra pheasants the last two weeks, we didn't see one so I cleaned up the guns for the year, disassembled the 7400 to get it ready for the Vortex 4-12x40 my dad got from work, his machine shop got a contract from them. Also got my new whistle from Wingerts, been waiting for close to two years for one. Sad but I'm ready to ice fish.

Spent the week painting the interior of the garage. Well most of what I could get to anyway. 20x20x13' was all tape and drywall. Two coats. 10 years of accumulated stuff had to be moved.
also hung my license plate collection, etc. Happy with the results.

Cleaned and lubed an old box fan and installed new grilles on it. Found one on the side of the street awhile back that was fried but had good grilles so kept those. The old thing seems to work pretty good now and will find out soon if it was worth the time. Dang they are 25 bucks now! Hung a mount from a ceiling joist for a clamp on utility light. Have several of those hanging in key areas like over a bench that my laptop sits on, over the small table by the fridge (gotta be able to see to mix a drink every now and then), tool box and a few other areas. They all have led bulbs and would like to replace all the 4' fluorescent fixtures with led's. Have 17 4 footers in this place with one 8 footer out back under the car port and one 4 footer about 1/2 way out towards the end of it so that will be a job in itself.

Cleaned the dog's cage day before yesterday. Not real easy to get it out and back in the house by myself. 6' tall, 50" long and 26" wide and 3 levels. Wood frame construction and heavy duty 1/2" hardware cloth....this thing ain't light. Has wheels but the frame is 1/2" from the floor all the way around so it's drags on the threshold. Went to the hardware store to get 4 screen door handles for both ends figuring they would come in handy and they did. Cleaning that thing is an all day event. The whole front section comes off which makes it easier to clean thank goodness.

Cleaned up around the shop and carport yesterday and did some more today but still needs more done. Never ends.....

Ripped some CDs to MP3 because it's F'n 33 degrees outside.

Brrrrrrrrr.

Had to wear an insulated flannel yesterday!

Bought and broke in the new house generator. Ready for the next big one. Gave the old one to the young fella.

Just threw away about 175 cassette tapes that I recorded nearly 50 years ago using a good AR turntable and a National Panasonic deck. Sounds like crap now......TDK 'professional' tape too. Oh well.

Type II and IV cassette blanks (even used) are going for decent money in audiophile circles due to limited production of new ones.

Specifically Maxell UDXL series and TDK SA in type II (chrome), I'm not too familiar with type IV (metal).

$2-$5 each, sometimes more.

If you had 175 of those in VGC.....

None of these are that.....have a few Maxells but they are XLII's and the TDK's are SD's. IIRC, the metal was coming out after I recorded the ones I have. Some years back I did a search on how long the ones I have lasted and well, I'm 20 years past that date lol
