What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Sighted in a rifle I swapped barrels in.

Since my cars are 2000 miles away, I am watching the F1 race.

18 holes with the wife on a beautiful 73 degree day. Now car browsing...

We just came back from doing 18 holes ourselves. The temperature was around 50 here, but there wasn't any wind, so it was fine.

Over the weekend-

Drank a beer or two,
An American "Russian Imperial Stout" @ 14% ABV
and
An American "Helles DoppelBock" @ 8% ABV.
They actually go together fairly well and went well with several different salami's and sharp cheddar and Gruyere.

Found the leak in my wife's air compressor.
It uses a compression fitting on the line from the head to the tank.
Gonna have to cut it off and see if It's long enough and will compress again.

Check out how basic that piston/crank/fan setup is.
Roller bearing and cogged belt, though.
It's actually a pretty nice little compressor.
DeVilbiss brand.
Easy for her to lug around.
Quiet
2.3 CFM@90
She bought it to run a nail gun.
It's painted a car or two.

Last year, I saw an identical one at a pawn shop but it had a different brand name.
$100. I should have bought it.

Oddly, the line attachment at the head is some kind of ball swivel.
But it doesn't leak.

People down the street put this out by the curb-

Obviously it was left outside or in a doorway that was always open.
They said it kept tripping the breaker.
I wonder if this could be the problem?

They also put out a HF welding cart that they had hogged and wobbled out the wheels.
I just happened to have wheels with real ball bearings that work.
Axle was too long so I drilled it for closer pins.
I've had that centering X block for decades but this is the first time I've used it.

I finally got my 1980's stereo system put together and operating in our new family room in the basement. Everything works great, so far.

Very cool! I dig the DCM Time Frame speakers. I have a set of TF700s that I use with a passive subwoofer. My wife likes antiques and I've thought about putting a flat screen in a modified 60's TV console cabinet, but it would limit the size and require floor placement.

Yes, they are TF350's. They sat unused for a long time and I was afraid the cones would have dried out and cracked, but so far so good.

The cones are usually ok, what goes is the rubber/foam surrounds which you can get repair kits for online. I just redid the foams on a set of old JBL Control 8's that I use out in the workshop - the foam had turned to dust but the cones were fine, so I found a place online that sold the foam based on driver size, and it came with appropriate tubes of adhesive. Brush the old foam off the backside of the cone, and off the frame; apply adhesive to both sides of the joint; allow to tack for about 3 min; install. Been working great for the last 6 months or so....

I had one go bad over 20 years ago. At that time I was selling and installing built-in stereo and home theater systems in new construction and I was able to source a replacement from one of my suppliers. The key is to replace it in both speakers, even if only needed in one, to retain the mirror imaging.

Speaking of speakers, I have a set of Bose 301 Series III units I've owned since 1980 when I was stationed in Alaska. I had to replace the cones back around 1993. I've had them in the living room for 23 years and have had the stereo powered up twice. I just haven't had the occasion or the desire to listen to music on it. I think I'll change that this week.

My LP collection needs exercise! I guess there are about 400 albums in the cabinet. My sons have never heard my system in action...it is time to correct that.
