Sure can, but if I want to eat fish, we'll go out and buy a slab of haddock or cod.

Half the fun in eating is catching it first!Sure can, but if I want to eat fish, we'll go out and buy a slab of haddock or cod.

I understand.....never was much on fishing either and like going fast.....on the water too!! Had a good running jet boat in the early 90's that ran hard to the point a good 'boat' buddy of mine didn't like going 70 on the water lolI haven’t got the patience to sit still in a boat and drown worms for hours c on end. When I’m in a boat, I want to be going a fairly good speed.

I've done 60+ on the water several times and it's like going 100!! A buddy used to buy jet boats at the end of the season and work them over during the winter and then take it out in the spring time to make sure it would hold together and I was usually with him. It was nuts! The boat I had, had a rebuilt pump by yours truly and another machinist and it got a 17-4 pump shaft and close tolerance wear rings and on and on. It was for someone else and well, he didn't have the desire to mess with it anymore after taking it out one time and offered it up for less than $3k so I bought it. Didn't keep it long as I'm not a boat guy but saw an opportunity to have a bit of fun and maybe make a buck and did. Saw 7500 on the tack with the tunnel ram 454 and it was getting light on the water and shut it down. How fast....have no idea but man, things got smooth at that speed lolMy little 16’ Glastron does 54-55 mph & that’s plenty fast on water for me. I have done 95-100 on the lake before, but that was on my snowmobile when the lake was frozen.
Oh Dayam!!!!Not trying to piss on anyone's cheerio's here......but when I was a teenager and going for one of my first open-water dives.....there were 4 of us and 2 tanks each plus all the other gear in a 17" fibreglass boat running a 120HP Chrysler motor, screaming across the Cook Strait at around 35mph. The dive spot looked a bit rough, so we turned back. But by the time we had rounded the island (Brothers Lighthouse Island), the sea had turned nasty. I mean real nasty.
It took us around 40 mins to get down to the tip of the South Island......and over 3 hours to get back. The swell was so bad that every time we hit the peak the prop was out of the water. Easily a 30 foot swell (many washing machines). No kidding, it was a rough trip...so bad, that I didn't think we'd ever see land again. The rain was intense, and the sea swell relentless.....but we made it back.
No diving that day.....but at least we lived to tell the tale. That was back in 1979.
The previous boat my father had was a 16' plywood hull with a 45HP Chrylser motor. One day they were screaming across the flat calm water to Kapiti Island (saying that for any Kiwi's reading) and his friend's cap blew off. So my Dad hit the picks.....unfortunately pulled back too hard on the stick, and straight into reverse.A 17' boat on the ocean? You were either brave or foolish .... or both.
Do you know what's in the lake? Walleye? Crappie? Perch?Sure can, but if I want to eat fish, we'll go out and buy a slab of haddock or cod.
The prize was always in the catch....the best fresh fish and always a good catch of crayfish (lobster). Man we were lucky as kids to eat stuff like fresh lamb chops, eye-fillet steaks, crayfish, fresh fish......A 17' boat on the ocean? You were either brave or foolish .... or both.
