There at first glace I thought you were using a hockey stick to pry that out.

Wood breaker panel?

NEVER in the US.

What was 42 ohms?
Wooden surround mounted exterior to the wall lining and panel. The panel itself is made of electrical grade Formica sheet - very common practice here in NZ. It's way better than the 'Zealite' panels from the '50's ...which contained a huge amount of asbestos.

The reading is actually 0.42 ohms - that is the Earth (Ground) loop impedance between the socket being tested and the supply transformer out on the roadside. Also the PFC is the potential Fault Current at that particular socket.

Never in NZ is 'bare earth wires' all conductors whether they be live or earth/neutral/ground, must be insulated along the full length of their run. Which simply means we don't allow bare earth cables.

...and that panel is due to be upgraded and swapped out for the latest standards.....that was my first visit yesterday.

Wow. That's WAY different then US code.

Metal panel boxes only, and uninsulated ground wires are common in a box, but not in conduit.

Metal, PVC/ABS or Bakelite device boxes.

I've always wondered about the metal boxes (which were standardized on first IIRC) as it's SUPER easy to ground out on them as the connections on the sides of the switches and receps are literally fractions on an inch from the sharp edges.

I've seen some of the pictures....and some of them scare me. Also, our cables are roughly half the size due to running twice the voltage.

So what you guys run for sockets outlets is almost the right size for our stoves/cookers. Your lighting cable is about the same as our socket outlet cabling....roughly.

Wife and I drove south for 3 hours so that I could change out one LED light fitting.

Stopped briefly at the lakeside boat ramp where parts of the kids movie "Yogi Bear" was filmed a few years ago.
Mangakino Lake......aka Mango Lake. Pleasant drive.....also saw some activity just north of the interchange to join the motorway around Te Rapa way... was thinking it might be where @KiwiKid72 is scraping dirt these days...

I see the pickernick table....

Finished up one trunk from the Red Oak. 5 face cords.... on to the other trunk later, but Wife's taking me for a rare November car cruise first.

So far today I cleaned one of my benches off just so I could clutter it up again with a couple of electric chainsaws....both run but one quit running. Switch maybe but have another. They've been sitting for a LOT of years. Now I'm lighting up my grill for doing about 9 drumsticks.

More leaf cleanup and winter prep in NH. The lake is almost drained down to its winter level.
