What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

The Plymouth did good, that's a long haul. My Dakota with a 360, never got over 14.1 to 14.8 and I'm sure it wasn't as much fun to drive either!!
I am always surprised by the amount of people that want to take pictures of my Satellite.
It was a great trip and a really good way to find the things I need to address.
Turn brake rotors and upgrade pads, windshield needs replaced
Pump seal on transmission
Drive line angle has a vibration
Pretty satisfied with that list

The thing about a car is, you can park them, look at them and they still will fall apart. Then, you can drive them and still wear things out. The difference is the mileage is low for the next guy and smiles per mile when you're on the road. I'd be satisfied to if I were you, having a classic and knowing what to do with it!

Played musical cars today and moved the lift over to another bay to make room for the return of “the roach” in a couple of weeks. The car under the blue cover will go on top of the car trailer for the winter and the bronze car will go under the lift.

Also , I made a bracket for the tractor bucket to move the trailer around easier.

thats true, was thinking in the air, the casters are pretty solid on the one I have, but have some slop where they pin in.

I went out to the farm earlier to fix a few electrical issues my brother was having with his kitchen lighting. Turned out to be nothing more than a bad toggle switch, and I also found a loose wire nut connection...easy stuff.
After that we took a ride on the Gator. Almond harvest is done so we checked out the wine grapes and did a general varmint patrol. No 'yotes but we did get buzzed by a huge barn owl...sneaky bastards! It's pretty cool though when a bird with a 4' wingspan flies a foot over your head without making a sound..

Spent the day up at the Pa. State fair in Bloomsburg. Beautiful weather and almost got 5 miles of walking in today..

Just laid it together to see how it will fit. It will need to be glued together, puttied and sanded. All of it gets brown primer with blue over it. That way you can lightly sand it to make it look distressed. The tailgate is the same a little light sanding to bring the primer through.

Well, i went and picked up my desktop computer, from my computer repairman guru, that was giving me a bit of trouble before his diagnosis and then repair.
Had him install Windows 10 in the computer, while he had it.
I'm a happy camper with the upgrade to the more modern operating system, so i guess i'm good to go, all over again.

Put together one of two gantry cranes from harbour freight, pretty heavy duty, at least heavy as hell. getting ready for some crazy chit.

Some how I have been ok even though I was the one helping dad and mom and took him to the hospital. That's all! Shewww.

Took my wife to have her last chemotherapy infusion today. We found out on Memorial day weekend that she had cancer. 4 spots on the brain and 1 spot on her right lung. She did the Gamma Knife procedure on the brain which is a Laser technology that only nukes the spots found. This new technology has been recently used in the past 6-7 years and is awesome. Looks like that went very well and so far the spots are gone. She had to do the chemotherapy infusion treatment 4 times. Today she got to ring the bell for completing this. This definitely put a hold on the cruising this summer. She was really bummed about not going to certain shows and events with the Charger. But now we get to look forward to next season. She has already scheduled a couple of reservations for 2 shows next summer. She also needs to hit the Casino.

That is absolutely wonderful news! It is always devastating when the word cancer is said during an examination. Fortunately the progress that has been made towards treatment has evolved to higher levels of survival and life expectancy. God bless you and your family and get her out in that Charger, to put a smile on her face and in her heart! Take care!

No, didn't work on my car, but did work on my brother's car. He's had a 72 cutlass convertible in my barn for over 30 years, I told him it's time to do something about it. So we tried to bar the engine (455) over, it was seized. Not a surprise.

Popped off the valve covers, surprisingly spotless. Pulled the intake manifold, nice clean lifter valley. Then we pulled the heads and found a bit of a problem.

One of the cylinders was a mouse condo. Full of bits of carpet fragments. The piston was down at the bottom of the stroke, cylinder was completely filled up.

I pulled out a lot of compacted fluff...

Oh well, at least the heads were good. But wait...maybe not. Under all that fluff I found that a valve head had rusted off. Mouse urine sure must be corrosive. The piston top had craters in it the size of blueberries. And actually getting past a partially open valve originally and set up living quarters in the first place meant that it must have been a pretty small creature.

Not much fun going on under the hood, so we decided to poke around the back. Years ago I dragged a 12 bolt rear end out of a 1970 Cutlass to put into this car to replace the 10 bolt. Well guess what, Oldsmobile put 12 bolts on the cover, but hid a 10 bolt carrier inside. Turned out to be an exciting 2.56 gear ratio, non posi. What a drag.
