What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

In the last 4 years I've had three homes. This is my last one and I finished hanging my car stuff back up in the garage for the last time. I covered it with OSB, but I didn't paint it, I just didn't feel like it. I'm so tired of houses and all the moving, I quit. My whole life has been about the smell of wood, moving wood, cutting wood, nailing wood, wood for the chair someone sat on, wood, wood. Screw wood, I now have a gas fireplace!!
My wife can't drive anymore, macular degeneration, so I'm down to two cars, our Durango and the Coronet, in the smallest garage I've had since I got married. This house is 1750 square feet, I've had attached garages just short of that size!! I don't even take care of the yard. My HOA fees pays for everything including the pool and the water for my yard. I just point now!!

Oh man, I like wood too (and getting wood as RC says) and worked building new homes starting at 14. 'Fresh' wood smell....love it! Also, I moved a LOT too but mostly when I was young and somewhat in my 20's to the point I got sick of it and I lived in my first house for 10 years and bought it at 23 after getting out of the military (and more moving). Only reason to move from there was that it got flooded 3 freaking times shortly after living there for 6 years. Total time there was 10 years and 4 years too long. Got flooded again in the 9th year. Been in my present place for 37 years now and hope some hurricane doesn't take it out. Ike gave me a good scare but no damage other than taking the rain gutters off.....and don't do anymore woodworking. Cars and that don't mix very well.....at least not in the same shop.

And....finally bought new rear tires for my garden tractor and got them on today. The old ones were 'only' 37 years old! Took the old ones to Discount Tire on Monday where they charged me 18.50 to dismount and get rid of them....and they did that kind of stuff for me for free. Had to totally clean one wheel where I used a can of 'fix a flat' and man, that crap will mess up a wheel bad....based on experience! I'm convinced after using it on another tire many years ago and it was rusty bad too. Had also used bead sealer on both tires and it held for about a year but the tires started leaking again at the beads and got tired of airing them up every time to go mow. Even bought tubes last year to stuff into them and decided not to use them after looking closer at how bad the tires were. Man, saw cracks all over them and can't believe they weren't leaking through the sidewalls!

I helped the family pack Mom's house. She's been living in long term care in a nursing home since April.
How is she doing? My MIL didn't like going into assisted living and raised holy hell about it....especially when she found out that she couldn't smoke inside. She was a 4 pack a day 'burner' of cigs....but she couldn't live on her own anymore.

Mom has dementia and can't be reasoned with. She's going through denial and anger. She's very sweet sometimes but moments later can be very sarcastic and snippy.

Right now I'm chillin to some blues watching my new Lava lamp warm up. It takes from 2-6 hours to get fully going. Its currently in the phallic stage after 3 hours.

I've been working on the floor at church.
Painted it and installed carpet tiles for runners.
It's coming along.

I bought a lot in the middle of town, 1.5 acres of land and a 5 acre lake some 35 years ago. Built a big house on it. It was like a park when I got done with it, 60 foot oak trees all over it. One hour on a riding mower, one hour with a push mower and one hour with a weed whacker. My son wanted to ride that mower so bad that I finally let him. Showed him how to start it, drive it, steer it, stop it, you name it, we learned it. Came home the next day from work, it was a Saturday and there was the mower up against the tree. He'd get to close and turn and the front tire would catch the tree and snap the ball joint. Three times of that happening and I got him his own rider. He drove that thing like it was a car forever. Then he got a radio controlled speed boat for the lake, man that thing flew!! Got him a paddle boat for the lake and built a boat ramp with a winch to go get the boat when it got stuck out there. When the tires went bad on his mower we got him a mini bike. I built it with him from junk and turned it into the thing that gave him his real feel of independence. Between the track we built and the 200 foot of concrete driveway, 80 feet of sidewalk, the world was his. He had a love for the smell of gas and anything that used it. I look back and don't regret a thing, those were my good old days!!!

Very nice work!

Your church is remarkably similar to ours. Wouldn't by chance be a "Church of the Brethren" would it?
United Methodist circa 1850 the "newer" part is from 1890 that part of the floor is more uneven than the original. Settling I suppose.
I enjoy doing flooring it comes easily for me

Thanks, I'm not sure when ours was built, but its OLD too. Just must have been a very common church design back then. Size, shape, windows, location of everything inside is VERY similar to ours. Almost identical. Does yours have a balcony above and behind the main seating area?

Had 6"-8" of fresh snow , so a buddy and I took a little drive in his jeep !

Made my runs between my fill dirt pile at the shop and my "fill in the hole where the hot tub was" project more efficient by using a wagon and some tote tubs I found.

Interestingly the two tubs hold exactly as much as a full wheelbarrow.
Now I can take two loads per trip.

Filling both units and lugging them up and down the trailer ramp is ***-busting work.
The wagon requires even more effort than the wheelbarrow.
I need to weigh one, but I bet it's close to 150 pounds. Maybe even more.
