What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Did a couple of errands this morning and had lunch with a friend (she paid :D) and now about to trim some low hanging limbs. Getting tired of ducking them when mowing. They do offer some privacy though so won't trim them too much....

The same thing I do everyday. Today is special though, I’m calling on customers in North Minneapolis and I forgot my pistol at home. It’s 70 and sunny so all the panhandlers and hood rats are out in force. I just watched a drug deal go down walking back to my truck…

Oh man, I know the feeling when leaving the house without mine. It's been a part of me for 15 years now and it's like I forgot my billfold but worse lol

I need to do the same thing.

Got a couple that scrape the truck roof.

Kinda like nails on a chalkboard.

Had one on the bridge of my nose last year.....that wasn't fun either but can only imagine doing it on an eyelid.
Thanks.
Not fun but not terrible. Have a 6mm piece of my lid removed. Going to special eye lid plastic surgeon in the morning. He is top of the line, renowned for his work.

I found a rodent hole when cutting my grass, think it's a ground hog cause it goes down so far. Just happened to have 4 rodent bombs lying around, down they went... if I see the bastard it's trap time.. they tend to get pissy when locked up.

How do you get rid of those ones.....knife, gun or drown? Curious. With possums in traps on the farm, we used to drown them in the creek....they're bastards if they get out.

I trap em with a hav-a-heart trap, then take them on other side of interstate, and drop them off in a wooded area near the Army base, which is within the 1 mile limit set by the town/state (as the crow flies). If they want to return, they gotta cross 8 miles of high sped traffic. I even paint them red to see if they find their way back, as they have a tendency to return if they can sniff out their old locations. Unfortunately I can't shoot em, and no creeks/ponds nearby to drown em, or I would. Vile creatures..

I cover the traps in a dark tarp, no food needed. They think it's another cave and like guys with expendable income and free booze at BJ, they lose all sense of reality. I catch em usually within a day or 2. And I've made sure I'm in bed of my truck when I open, as I've had a couple come back at me once lose. I close them at night as one night I left it open and caught a skunk. That was fun getting him out without being sprayed.

Admiring the fine welding skills of the PO's mechanic. Bought this a couple days ago and have spent that time trying to put it back to a normal state. It only had one speed "HIGH" but a hundo in parts later and it will be fine. Just waiting on the Amazon, FedEx, and USPS people to show up with the parts. May have to go to the storage unit and dig out the welder to fix this crap! Oh yeah, still looking for a new home, as usual.

Yikes.

Some times "good enuff" isn't good enough.

Yup... just mowed the uppper and lower yards...

And I love seeing "100% orginal" 66's with a 1 piece console...

Funny how that came about. Back in 1981, I was dating this hot little number. We were out on the local "cruise strip" when she decided to sit on the console. When she pressed her hand and weight on the console butt, I heard a "crack!"...yup, she broke my baby! I got rather upset. She said "it's just an old car!"...our relationship ended at that moment. Dropped her off a half-mile from her house and said "see ya!". Lived with the cracked console butt for many years afterwards. Found a '68 console shell in 1992 and swapped out the damaged console for the incorrect '68 unit. Then in 1996, I ended up buying a trailer-load of Chrysler parts from a gal in Arkansas. In all that was four '66 consoles. One had a perfect butt piece of the four. It sat in my shop forever. I decided to restore that particular console. I got distracted by far too many "shiny objects" over time, and finally decided to finish that console this week. Came out great! Sold two of the other consoles, and the third is literally a shell without any attachments, and has a big hole in the floor of the storage area. I might modify that considerably to put in my '69 D300 truck. That console has minor damage, anyway; so cutting it up won't be a crime.

Scored this '77 Motor's manual at a yard sale for $3.

I already have a '69 and a '74.

Put my hand cleaner dispenser on one of the sanitizer stands I found in the dumpster.
Can hang a towel on the other side where it caught the excess drippings.
Used it. Works well, and is portable to where I'm working or to the hose bib area.

Installed a new valve stem in my "nice" set of "roller" wheels and tires.
The old one was rotten and snapped off when I went to air it up.

Man, I LOVE having a tire machine.

Wait, does that count as "working on the car"?

...and finally drilled a landing for the set screw to snug into to help offset the damage I did to the plunger duck head mount area and installed the plastic rim guard I made for the steel duck head.

Look at that nice chip from my new cobalt bit set!

Almost looks like it's supposed to be there.

I may add another one closer to the "tail" area, depending on how it looks like it's gonna work.

Oh, and I drove by an older house being remodeled and noticed they had thrown a 3 foot box fan in the dumpster.
People were there (windows open, music playing, truck in the driveway), but I couldn't find anyone.
Sure be nice to have another large, free fan for the shop.
Think I'll go by again today after work.

Had to rearrange the storage order in the "garden shed". One of my alternative projects got side lined for the time being due to a parts issue. I have to move on to other things.

This is a 1952 Mahone Bay Plycraft, c/w the original 1952 Johnson 25HP outboard. My father was the original owner. It is un-restored, but original condition. It hasn't seen water for over 50 years, been in a climate controlled garage all that time. I had to clean all the fuel corruption and such from the fuel tanks and carburetor. All new ignition components. Water pump and lower unit seals replaced. Will need to replace the steering cables as well. Just as I was torquing the flywheel back on, the crankshaft broke at the flywheel. Looked to be a very old crack that finally spread. So this project ground to a halt as I now have the source some parts and tear into a bit more motor work than I intended.

So to free up some space, I suspended the "Little Yellow Boat" as it was affectionately known as, from the rafters in the "two car" garden shed.

It spent the past 50+ years hanging from the ceiling so another year won't hurt. I can now park something else underneath as need be.
much more economical than another 4 post lift, lol.

I've been thinking of doing something similar with my trailer and car dolly, but my plan is to winch them up by the tongue so they are vertical and the undersides facing each other.
That will allow both to be stored in less space than one and get them out of the rain. Might even figure out how to use the same winch for both.

I was going to fab up a winch system originally, but then thought better of it since I had lots of rigging on hand anyway. I cut chains to the correct length and suspended it on those, then removed the rigging.
