Took my wife to her Neurologist and her MRI showed that all 5 cancer spots on her brain are gone thanks to the Gamma Knife procedure. Yesterday we also saw her oncologist and the cancerous spot on her lung has shrunk from 4.8 centimeters down to 1.7 centimeters. She will now continue onto 6 more infusion treatments minus 1 drug and then onto a maintenance regimen of only Keytruda. Its been a rough summer to say the least but we are extremely happy with the outcome so far. I would be lost without her. I will be playing the lottery this weekend.

We killed some paper today. The wife and I and a close friend went to the range. I took my 45-70 loaded with some 405gr cast bullets and RE-7, it shot very well. Also brought my Swiss K31,it's always nice. The wife shot her 30-30 and competition 10-22. She puts it in the ten ring at 100yds all day long with the 10-22. My buddy had his 300 win mag and 223 bolt action.
It was a good day

What are you firing in that 10-22?

Even with CCI mini-mags, the arc of mine is super squirrely over 50 yards.

We had the same results when we first got ours and we were disappointed after hearing how nice these are.
So we started experimenting with different ammo.
The results were kind of surprising. The slower the bullet the more accurate.
So we settled on CCI with a 40gr bullet moving about 1k muzzle velocity. I want to try some Aguila ammo but I need to shoot up some of my less accurate stock first.
After having said all that try reducing your speed
Some of the subsonic might work the best

I have been working my way up to do a 15 mile round trip with my bicycle on the American River Parkway Trail, and this morning i met my goal in making it down to the Nimbus Dam, and then back home again.
(This is the Sacramento, Rancho Cordova, Fair Oaks, Folsom, part of the state)
I'm a 71 year old, doing this, and at 173 pounds this morning on the scale, which i haven't been since the 1960's back in my high school days, 1966-1970.
2023, between April and October, lost 50 pounds, starting out at 230.
Guess a few more have come off, since then.

Took off midweek since the weather has been incredible here. Brilliant sunshine 70’s & even in the 80’s not normal for late October. So my wife and I went down and visited a friend in the am who has a place in Ocean City New Jersey. We took his one boat and went down to Atlantic City for lunch. Had a great time out on the water one last time for the year.

Just finished putting up the last sheet of OSB! Installed 37 sheets with 36 screws per sheet (1332 screws total) and every sheet had to be cut. The better half had to help with just 1 sheet. Perfect! I was originally going all the way to the ceiling but now I am going to use 1/2" foam board for the last 6 feet. Don't want to blow out my shoulder lifting the OSB and the foam is bright silver witch will help reflect some light. Shop is a total mess as everything had to be pulled away from the wall. In a couple of weeks an old friend will come with his crew and spray foam the top side of the ceiling to seal it all up. There are a lot of gaps in the existing ceiling insulation. The PO told me that in the winter it was around $25 a day to keep it heated so he only fired up the heat when he was working out there. I need heat all winter so I have to seal it up as best I can. We will see how bad the winter gas bill will be.

*The corner without OSB is where the spray booth goes. More work and money but that booth will keep the shop much cleaner and the paint jobs dust free.*

Used to ride my bike a lot but my knees are saying no to anything more than a mile. They ain't bad enough for replacement.....yet. Oh well. I did manage to get rid of 50 lbs anyways and lately I'm hanging around 175-178 but would like to hit 165.

Disassembled my first Chevy engine.....first one to ever 'grace' my shop. Well, it was a short block but one that was left on an engine stand uncovered for a LOT of years inside of a damp one car garage. It was a bit difficult to tear it down since it was a used engine that was being oiled down from time to time and all that did was to keep collecting dirt and dust. It did have forged dome pistons which still look pretty decent. Did that Friday and Saturday. Started the 'Varsol' vat cleaning yesterday. Sick of the mineral spirits or whatever that mess is. Never thought that MS would become sticky. Today is house work and went to vote around 11:30. There were quite a few people there this time vs last time.

Well took Bob Renton's advice and started to invest more into my house than my hotrods, one more stage of the fence line project, which resulted from the new shop, pretty much reseed the around the new (15) Norwegian spruce

trees and get ready for winter, let mother nature take its course, hope we have a wet winter.
