Where did you and your car go today

My opinion mind you. I love the car and black tires and black rims leave just that, a black hole. Many don't like the dog dishes, but see how the bright dish pulls the bright on the car together. Picking between the two, I vote for the dishes. That's a nice car and you know I like red!!!!!! Gear change and drive it till it loosens up, adjust and carry on. It needs to see daylight and be shown off, thanks for sharing........... Ulli
Thanks, yeah driving it got me a little energized back into it.. sitting for 2 years on jackstands can make you hate a car :) I Kinda wish at this point i had kept the power steering, but i'm going to adjust the steering box a little and see if that helps, PST said it's supposed to be tight but i couldn't budge it by hand outa the box, had to use pliers and it was still tight.. even at speed it's hard to turn 20:1

Out for a drive on the weekend.

The older I get, the more help I need!! LOL. My car was bought because of the get in and drive it thought process. I've had a few cars that didn't have power steering and you're young enough to get away with it, for now!! LOL. To me, they get better once they get used, loosened up. You want to kill a car, park it and save it, save it for what or who. I'd look good in that car!!

Well, that's what happened with this car.. it was the famly truckster from 1962-78 when it got parked and forgotten for 46 years... At some point i will end up putting the 2.89 gears and stock wheels and stuff back on i'm sure but for now i'm gonna beat it and have fun

Nothing is perfect and just being in them and just rolling down the road is what the hobby is about...... Let The Horses Run!!

Baby Blue survived at a high level of preservation by being driven constantly from 1968 until 1991. When I got the car back in 2013, everything I had to fix was the product of sitting without being driven. The car worked perfectly for the next seven years, current owner is following my example. Sad to see how many really outstanding cars in my area got parked in someone's barn or field, saved for a "later" that never came.

There's a reason I only own one and it's not money. I've only owned one at a time since the start, basically. I used to rotate in and out. Cora will be my last and I can live with that. Yes, saving them in a garage somewhere brings me no happiness. Some use them as an investment tool, but they still need to be driven. Just like us, if you don't use it, you lose it.

Put about 10 miles on my car yesterday, second drive since 1978... just getting a feel for things and what i need to fix.. the 4.57s are howling on decel which is a bummer.. Brakes are not very good.. brand new EBC pads, hoping it gets better as they break in.. all in all though it went well even if it was a short ride, no heat issues or weird things happening. hating the exhaust note though.

So.. should i just go blank black rims or leave dog dishes in the front? can't decide..

P.S. ohh and i was surprised how well this takes bumps (after i did the alignment, before it was insane and felt like rolling death) Roads in michigan suck bad and in my grand cherokee i get beat to ****.. in this old pos i barely feel them :) sooo nice... That plus i forgot how much i love a bench seat :) Left arm on the door, right arm across the seat.. just feels perfect :)

You asked, so.... do ANYTHING but just black wheels. Darn near anything.
If you just HAVE to leave the steelies black, at least put on some dog dishes - baby moons would be period correct also - and some trim rings. Or chrome 'spyders' even. Anything but black wheels.

After battling power steering problems all summer, I finally got my '64 Polara working well enough to go to Waterford, Ontario PumpkinFest. It was about a 50 mile drive in moderate fog all the way, but cleared up after arriving to be a beautiful day. Record amount of cars: 50/50 draw was $3300 each way! Some pictures follow:
