Who has MOVED from their home state ? How difficult was it for you?

I look at the homeless/tent city issues the same way as I do with vermin infestation. If you give them food, water and shelter, you'll get issues. Like mice/rats being around, it won't be long till the predators start showing up and make the problem way worse. Take away at least two of the attractions and the problem goes away.

Movers are like cockroaches there’s a million of them and even the best will stink in some way. We went with Allied and they did a great job. Nothing broken or lost on a almost 1800 mile move. They were not cheap. Do not go with a broker ! They are the worst.

Like said earlier, I35 is sorta a dividing liberal between green and wetter and humid and direr and less humid and more air (wind). East of I 35 has the Piney Woods (green and wet and some times real wet!)
Politics? Austin and Houston are very Left wing liberal. Get away from where people DO NOT commute, you are in the conservative country. Makes a huge difference if retired or working!
I think anyone from anywhere is welcome in the country. like said,always leave the West Coast BS back there!

The worst of the weather was in Georgia last week. Murfreesboro was humid on Saturday but in every instance, once the clouds cleared out, it felt about the same as California. From Saturday afternoon through the end, it felt nice. That was nice to find out.

Hardly anyone in California is from California now
almost all of them are from points east
or hold overs, transients or transplants

very few now are native Californians
they (like me) are getting forced or driven out
of a state that use to be one of the best in the US

I know all the **** that's wrong too
I've lived here & was born here in 1959

not all of Calif. or it's people
are like SF/Oakland Sac. LA areas

Many of US are far different than what some portray here...
I'm a native Californian & proud to say it...

I'm not proud of the way the states been turned into
****-lined & homeless camps (people frome north east or south)
living on/in streets in inner-cities...

all people hear on the news is **** about SF Sacramento or LA
I know it's not

you can't stereotype all Californians in 1 tight lil' package
I'm about as conservative as they come,
I'd bet I'm more conservative than the people talking **** about Calif.
The difference is I actaully know the facts & the truth
I've lived here most all of my life...

I've traveled all over the US...
I can say the same **** about many metropolises/inner-cties
in many so-called conservative states,
their inner-cities are just like ours, just hiden the fact better...
Not publicized nightly like ours are, we do have near 40,000,000 now...
I lived in Oregon while going to college, talk about change...
I lived in Alaska for a few years to help my sister,
It's completely changed too, if not for it being so damn spread out & rural...
I lived in Springfeild Mo. for a year, while rebuilding a racetrack for a friend,
That was a cool area, other than the weather, a few other things...

yes by the coast is fucked up now, sad truly
eastern Calif. is a like a completely different state

20% of the landmass has over 60%+ of the population
that means they get the votes,
Many a bunch or renters people living in apartments
people that don't pay property taxes or income taxes in some/many cases
& it gets all the attention
& is all the areas that turned to ****
that's all you guys focus on

anyway...

Yup, so much hate for California but back in the 60's & 70's this state was strongly conservative.. back in the 60's I had an uncle in the Davis area that was furious for years that with the University in the town he & his neighbors votes didn't matter... Well at this point all of California is in the same boat.... Probably more than 75% of the land area is conservatives but that 25% is where the bulk of the people live....

Wearing blinders in this state would be effective IF the madness didn't spread. It is spreading though.
IF I could live and do my thing without the bad things encroaching into my area, that would be a factor in staying.
IF I was swimming in money and had some type of job that required me to live here, that would be another factor.

This map shows the areas that we visited.

We started out in Atlanta for Mary's work meetings. We went southwest to the town of Sonoia to visit the area for a The Walking Dead
tour. I have been a fan of the show from the start.

These pictures are from the main street through the town that they used in season 3 and 4 for the town of "Woodbury".

I see flags flying and clean streets...the way that America should be.

In season 5, the group encounters the community called "Alexandria". This was supposed to be in Virginia but is still filmed here in Georgia.

No interior pictures were allowed.

Creative camera angles and digital editing allowed them to shoot the scenes of the community within a fairly small location. Railroad tracks figure prominently in the show from season 2 to the current episodes. They use these decommissioned tracks for many scenes.

I wont say sorry because my experiences have been negative, those are just my experiences. I don't believe that everyone in California is someone who would not be an asset in most any place. I have good friends in California but would not want to see them move in next door. Obviously I am biased by the experiences I have personally had with new transplants who believed their mission is to show the folks here the error of their conservative ways while enjoying the land and suckling from the nourishment that the conservative attitude and hard work has provided. I am part of the happy, unwashed 2%. I ardently vote with my money and don't need any company, person or government entity to force a value that I do not hold down my throat with a product, life style, attitude or law designed to pander to the small percent of the population who work hard to control the narrative. I stated that I did not know Greg, sounds like he might be the kind of guy I could be friends with but again haven't had the opportunity to make his acquaintance. However, I felt it important to state the prevailing attitude of folks that have lived here for generations so he could manage expectations and make an informed decision. This frankness was more about expectations on both our parts. If I wasn't open to good people moving here I would not have offered the small advice regarding areas of the state to consider. I wish him good luck in his search and pray that the rest of the hard working, independent thinking people across the nation find a way to turn the ship around.

BTW there used to be a bumper sticker in Texas that was quite popular during the early/mid 70's when the rust belt was imploding.
"What does a Texan hate the most? A Yankee with a u-haul headed south" Most of those guys showed up ready and willing to embrace the attitudes and culture that they were so desperately seeking. I am proud to say that they make up a valued part of who we are and what we value. So I don't think it is so much about who is moving here but, more about Texas desperately trying to hold on to what we have and enjoy.

Include me also for being a homie. Where I live, we keep a low profile politics wise as there are quite a few lefties etc in the area. Of the two counties I've lived in, this one is the best. Some stuff you just put up with and try to vote out the problem children.
