Who has MOVED from their home state ? How difficult was it for you?

Everyone that lives within 50 miles of the coastline in Commiefornia, should be getting water from a desalination plant. This would solve 2 things.
1. Coastal cities wouldn’t flood due to the rise in the sea level (according to the “science”).
2. Coastal cities would be doing their part to help restore the aquifers that those who live inland rely upon for water.

Lol!!!!

There's a reason I live in Missouri. Middle of the country, middle of some road, in the middle of nowhere and also on the outskirts of a big city. I pick one or the other when the moods strike me. I feel lucky living here.

I did the same thing. Outside of town (7 miles) on a road that no one uses. 20+ miles to Worcester for the big chain stores.
BTW Rutland MA. is the geographical center of Massachusetts.

Forgot to mention the Massachusetts State Police Academy is a few miles west. I couldn't resist driving past with the Flowmaster 40s. Meep meep

Moving is a big deal and starting over is an exciting opportunity when you've had enough. Aside from Greg not being able to deal with people and their thoughts on how a whole state should be run is sad. It's his home and you can move anytime, but you should never be driven out by the outlaws, so to speak. The whole thing is a crap show.

I was in the same boat as Greg, Commiefornia is a lost cause but to a liberal, it’s their Mecca! Had to bail, glad I did! Texas is a place we should’ve moved to a long time ago.

How is the weather there today, Zack?

96 and humid with the wind blowing around 15mph. We’ll be in the 100’s again starting Monday.

It was mid 80s here....unusually comfortable for July where we are usually in the upper 90s.

We were 78* for the high with 49% humidity today.

Right now in the garage it is 76* with 42%. Down right pleasurable.
(still going to get a mini-split at some point though :p)

Hey guys,

In the process of moving from Kennebunk, Maine over to a quiet spot near Rutland, Massachusetts. Why?????? It's much closer to my lab even though I work virtual 90%. Way more open space. Maine was cheap 15 years ago, but nolonger. Plus last month, Kennebunk swapped half the US flags on Main St (RT 1) for rainbow flags.
I thought the firearms might be complicated, however the State Police read my DD214 and my list of firearms and issued the FID and CC in less than 10 days. There are moments when you find yourself being judged based on what you have done. I'm a decorated, disabled veteran working full time for the second largest defense contractor in the country. The best part was being finger printed (I've been in the system since 1975) and after chemo treatment, my skin changed and it's impossible to get a readable print LOL I had to email the feds.

The PIA was moving my tools/workshop, next to impossible to rent a truck with a liftgate........................
Very interesting story. Great that you had plenty of friends/manpower to move your tools and workshop. You must be very great full with all those who supplied the help. Also thx. for your service as well.

I just had (2) 3 ton mini- splits installed in the garage and they work great so far. It takes them about two hours to get the garage down from 100 inside temp to 80. It’s going to be interesting when the days get up to 115-120 outside in a couple of weeks.
I will see how it goes, usually the garage gets about 105 inside at those outside temperatures. Of coarse I’m cooling over 2,000 sqft of garage space with 1,600 sqft of that with 16ft high ceilings.

What looked like a deal that was missed......MAY still be possible.

Trying not to jinx anything but since I am not superstitious, I'll proceed.
Multiple offers have been made on this place but none have come close to the bottom dollar that the sellers want to get. Today I spoke with the agent and our numbers that we are willing to spend are right in line with the seller's bottom line.
This may still happen.
I am SO nervous because this is a HUGE change for me. I have not moved around the country like many of you. I've been anchored to Northern CA since I was 3 years old. Most of my family has passed on but I do still have some here. Friends too. I know that this state has abandoned what I believe in and there is legislation in the pipeline that bans much of what I still like: Gas powered vehicles, tools and stoves. It almost feels like being in a shitty marriage that one stays in simply out of familiarity.
The UPside is that everything about our move is a step up in our living standards. Bigger house, more property, lower taxes, cheaper everything.

Make the offer Greg! It’s a beautiful place, room to grow so to speak.

I was a bit nervous moving to Texas. But all I thought about during Commiefornia’s lock down was how to get outta there. I was most worried about breaking down on the way here, that was a concern of mine since my truck would be pulling our enclosed trailer that was by all rights, overloaded. Going through Tehachapi, I was in 3rd gear doing 60, watching coolant temp and oil pressure. It turned out that my worry for not. Pulled that trailer through all the mountains on the way here without a single hiccup…..till we hit Texas. Watching the oil pressure gauge as a part of my routine and it dropped to ZERO! Pulled off the road immediately, called the wife who was ahead of me and told her to come back. Popped the hood and fired it up, no weird sounds (clackky clack) so I took the oil fill cap off, (6.7 Cummins with an oil bypass kit from Amsoil) and saw oil pouring back steadily. Looked at my gauge, still zero, wiggled the sending unit wires, my son says “oil pressure dad”! I look at the gauge, 20lbs hot idle. A friggin nut came loose on the sending wire to the sending unit. Tighten the crap out of it and we pulled into our new house around 4pm local time.

Moving hard, family/friends are left behind. But they’re only a phone call away.

No quit being a wuss and put an offer in! Lol!

I deal with 20-25 days each Summer at or above 100 here in CA. The humidity is not an issue here but it is even lower in Arizona.
The high elevation is the reason. Overall, the weather looks a lot like here.
The rainfall looks to be about 1/3 what I'm used to. I'm not a fan of the desert landscape for a back yard. I love to look at the mountains, rocks and cactus when driving around or visiting In-Laws there but I'd need to put in some areas of grass in at home. Not just for myself but for the dogs as well.

Kingman is running 104-105 all this week

I've dealt with 100+ temps my whole life.
Kingman does get some snow. Not enough to close roads (usually) so that will take some adjustment.
I look around at some of you that left the state and applaud your bravery. 3 or 4 guys from the Sacramento Mopar club moved away and have not regretted it. Only one came back and it was because they missed their grandkids.
