72 Dodge Charger Hard top Project

sweet seats man! i put the same ones in my 74 satellite. super sporty

Thanks everyone, went for a little ride to the store to get some gas, man did it feel good, it would be real comfortable on a long ride.

Well, since I don't have much money saved up right now for more body supplies...ie; sheet metal primer paints sealants etc... I'm going to dress up the trunk since my interior looks cool now (will still update with pics) I already have everything I need material wise to do the trunk, between all the rain we're getting the next 3-4 days, this is what my trunk treatment is going to look like, I'll do a before and after pic. Here's a sample

someone else trunk;

I've got some left over Birch 1/8" plywood I'm going to use as the backing board and side boards for the carpet treatment. I'll have to make some cardboard patterns first.

Id like to do my trunk like that too, looking forward to see how you do it.

Hey Old_skool!

Nice car! Have you though about going to a newer style, bigger rim and tire? lol Sorry I had to after I saw your post in Jason's thread ;)

Your project looks great and I appreciate your comments and value everyone's opinion! It's evident some people prefer the "old skool" muscle look but when you say it looks less like a ground pounder now and more like a show car it's actually the complete opposite... the newer larger diameter rims and low profile Nitto tires add handling and drivability and really make it a more enjoyable car (for me) Not to mention I'm into the resto-mod and pro-touring look so what I ended up with is right up my alley. I actually sold the magnum 500's and rubber to another member on here.

Thanks for your input and I fully respect everyone has their own taste,

Goon

Like I said, your car looks good both ways, but you have to admit, the new wheels do give it a more modern look, it adds handling and drivability, but doesn't have the old school stance, regardless of who likes what, you have a super sharp car!!!

No worries Old Skool! Like I said I respect your opinion and absolutely no where you're coming from

Cheers!

Ok, I'm horrible when it comes to taking before pics, as I had some rust holes to deal with, did that, sealed everything up, and here's my first piece, not glued down yet, plan on adding a lot more and neatening it up. I'm not sure I want a back board now, as I want to add a spare and period correct jack.

Those seats you put in look like they belong there and the trunk carpet looks great as well. Where did you go/find the online build sheet(s)?

Click on the blue links below fender tag interpretation at the top, they only have 69,70,71. Wish they had 72 and later

I Opened them with a pdf editor tool program to add the values I wanted.

Carpet looks good in the trunk, Your interior looks sweet, its looking real comfortable for your cruising rides! Its hard to beat a Mopar interior, sound, performance, ride ect.. enjoy!! :)

Thanks, I've decided for now, I'm only going to lay the one piece of trunk material, I like seeing the wheel wells open...for now, I may make the other pieces later and see if I like them better, but for now, the trunk just needs a spare and jack.

How can ya pass up a $20 Alpine CD player...this cheap bastage can't, gotta figure out how to mount it, no dash cutting, also, thinking about putting in a CB, maybe this little old Cobra, need to blow a few years of dust off it...cough cough.

Stupid fuel sending unit going wonky today, guess I know what I'll be fixing next...

anyone else find it funny that excellent is spelled wrong? ...or is there a reason??? :eusa_think:

yeah, it's more wrinkled than anything, I filled in the couple missing numbers on the scanned copy, referenced from the other build sheet that's tore into pieces but is legible.
And the interior is finished, I'll get some new better pics when I can.

I used a blank online copy of a 71 build sheet to make a readable copy for my records, I would like to find an online copy of a 72, they're a little different.

Yeah I noticed that too, wonder if it's an English or other country's English spelling, back in the 70's you still had a lot of old timers who used old slang and old versions of spelling different words usually derived from another language where a lot of American English came from. Or....third grade could have been the hardest 3 years of his life:icon_weed:

And yeah, I duplicated it on purpose...honest...I would like to find a blank 72-73 sheet though if anyone found one online.

ummm, would you want your kids going here????http://www.excellantdrivingschool.com/

Might explain a lot on the roads these days

Mounted my speakers, was going to put them in the kick panels, but looked to be more trouble than I wanted, and I like them in the door panels, don't get yer panties in a bunch purist, these are pretty worn, I'm mounting the radio in a console bracket and fastening it to the console, relocated my tach also, I hated it on the column.
