Don's 1969 Charger Restoration

O.K now you've entered insanity, what's left? Maybe it would be easier to just tell us what your are reusing. No, seriously that's really cool going to that extent to save it. Not being to far away maybe our paths will cross sometime because I want to see it when it's done, Mopar Nats some year?

Yeah I sometimes think I'm insane, but hey I need a challenge!

Wow !!!! I'll be watching for tips with my car. Soon I will be getting into the metal work. Thanks for the great updates!!!! Your going to have one sweet ride when she is done......
Thanks

Your very methodical in your work .I would say that the work you are doing is going to make this car last for a VERY long time! Protecting all those internals is something not many get to do.
you must be a real expert in spotweld removal by now?
keep up the great work Don
Thanks

Thanks for the trip down memory lane Don. However I think you went a few more blocks down the road. Great work!! Keep it up.
I learned from your thread Sarge!

:huh:wow a lot of work there and I would say he is going further down road it might be around the block ,thanks for the updates :headbang:
THANKS

I can say I'm definitely learning how to brace a car from reading you're thread. This reminds me of the radiator cap repair technique. Step 1 remove radiator cap. Step 2 replace vehicle under cap. Step 3 replace cap. Is there anything that is still original left on the car? LOL. You really are doing a helleva job keep up the good work. Like 747 said, it would be cool to get together one day when the cars are all finished. Maybe at the nats.
By then I'll need a walker!

Looking good, Don. Like someone said about my car: your car is lucky to have you.
THANKYOU

wow....just......WOW!!!

amazing work. I've bought some pretty sketchy cars... I know where my line is...this is way beyond it.

Front clip removal

Ok before I remove the front clip,

P1010046.JPG

I thought the front needed a little more bracing....
I notched the outer brace so it will locate the lower part of the a-pillar

"The unburied dead are coming back to life" haha looking forward to seeing that new front clip on the car, keep it up Don!

Whenever you guys get yours done we'll have to get three spots together at the Nats unless more join in "the more the merrier". I shouldn't say "you guys" I still have to finish mine. That includes you to Ron, you can can catch a lift with me from Ohio in the Charger if you like.

All you easterners have to make a trip over to MATS or something so I can join in! Be cool to see all the finished projects together
:eek:ccasion14:

You sure will have a great story to tell your friends when your done with this, All that bracing to keep everything right and true, you are a well determined man! Good luck with the rebuild...

busy busy busy wow we are moving along nice thanks for the update :blob1: this is a thread for Jim`s 69 RT/SE ,that he should watch very closely :headbang:

Great job with the bracing Don. Looks like it is getting ready for surgery. I think you are getting to the point of threatening SGTPaul for the most metal replaced on a car. Glad I'm not as crazy as the 2 of you. Lol

Hey SGT,
AH, mine is NOT together yet, soooo you win! LOL:yes:
Man I need to get back out in the garage!
Had to do a little house project. Then the wife and I took a long weekend and went up north to see the colors. (leelanau peninsula, and bridge area)
I also bought a garage heater, so thats my next project.
Then I'll get back on the Charger

GO TIGERS!

Darn it . . . so close but no cigar . . . maybe next year Tigers ? ? ? ?

Did you find what you needed for the front clip (pillars if I remember right)? I'm headed to pick up some pieces this Sunday off of a 1969 RR that supposedly has a really clean front clip so if you need anything let me know.

Thanks 747, I think I have what I need thanks.
Does that RR have good outer rockers?

I'll check. If you know of anyone here in need of a clip let me know "sounds like he wants it gone".

Now you see it.....

Now you don't....

WHOA . . . Now I think there's more of the car missing then actually there . . . and I thought I was in deep . . . NOT ! !!

Some of you guys simply amaze me ! ! !

Guys,

This is very humbling - the work that you're putting into these cars, or should I say, the pile of parts that you are going to make into a car - this is awesome!
When I look at my R/T sitting in the garage, with the list of little things that needs done, that I'll do and think how I worked on it - what a joke!

You guys are a real inspiration, not only about rebuilding/building a car from the ground up, but the motivation that it takes to even want to do a job like this.mThe hours of work and effort, the money, the sweat and aggravations, and the well earned pride when that completed vehicle fires up for the first time, I can't imagine how that will feel - thank you for posting those pictures and the stories that go with them!

Don, The work your doing is amazing! The patience you have and all that bracing work is an inspiration to any who watch this! Good luck with the build, this is a good one to watch, and learn..

Now that trick sure beats the hell out of making a quarter disappear! Good luck with the front end transplant Don! Bet it'll be a huge relief to have behind you
