Here is the newest addition to the garage.

Found it on craigs list he wanted $450.00 got it for $350.00 I think I got a great deal. Josh is real happy now the sand blaster works 10X better and faster.

I hope it is the color combo to make the grill and the tail panel at least look close to correct.

Great work! Stepping right into your restoration in style.

Thanks for the argent formula info. Bookmarked for future reference.

nice compressor, I need to do the same thing, pretty soon too

I'm sure that compressor will pay for itself when you start using the air tools.

X-2 That is one of the nicest additions to a garage there is, One day im going to upgrade to a big-un.. Most of the work i do i need lots of air but, hopefully mine will last another couple years.. Good luck with the GTX!!

Huge difference with the air tools. I am no longer waiting for air. Works great with the harbor Freight sand blaster cabinet also. My son and 7 year old daughter are going nuts sandblasting everything in sight. The GTX parts are looking great. As soon as my buddy gets back from Portugal we are going to start sandblasting the car and get it ready for paint. He should be back in 2-3 weeks. This will give me time to get the windows and dash out. Now that the other projects are done I can start working on the GTX again. HAD TO Rebuild the engine in my 84 Dodge (lost oil pressure) and right now just finishing up my 95 F-350 dually diesel fender and door and glow plugs and harness. I am still recovering from my surgery last Thursday on my left leg but not letting it slow me down. Like I tell the kids no pain no gain. Damn to many things to do and not enough time in the day.

Glad to hear you're up and at'em from the leg surgery. Nice compressor! Priceless tool to have in the garage for a restoration. Makes life 10X easier.

Little progress is far better than none... your a busy beaver

Hey there 68, I owe you big time! Thanks SO much for your help this weekend.

Looking forward to working on our projects together, so I'll be in touch.

Take care,

BW

The last few months have been a little hectic! But some progress has been made on the GTX. Getting closer to getting it sandblasted.

Need to get the doors off next and start on the underside.

The primer spots are from my son cleaning up some of the light rust spots.

100_2362.jpg100_2363.jpg

As you can see the pans are in really good shape and will not need replaced. Nice

100_2364.jpg100_2365.jpg

As you can see I will have to do some work around the rear window lower lip.

The battery tray area needs a little work also. The inner roof looks rusty but it is just the glue and remnants of the insulation.

It is hard to see but here the pillar has cracked on both side of the lower windshield so body support will be added for torque support in the future. I will be adding sub frame connectors and torque boxes.

It is still work in progress and I need to start working on my stuff and slow down working on everyone else's stuff<LOL>
The good news is that all the unpaid overtime (salary sucks)at work is coming to a close and I will be able to spend more time on my baby.

Nice update brother and I'm happy to see Josh is still hanging in there with you. Looks like a pretty solid body for the project and I hope the work schedule allows you to continue making headway!

looks really solid. I can tell you're out west, sure wouldn't be working outside back here!

"Sweet car" looks really solid. Now let's see it reborn to it's former beauty.

68GTX440, love reading your story. I'm restoring a 68 GTX as well and I'm having a blast doing it. How's your motor, mine was stuck so I pulled it and currently going through it

Motor is thrashed! I was going about 120 give or take and had a valve float, a push rod and lifter came out lost oil pressure and spun a crank brg. Not a big deal if you look close the motor is a 383 not a 440. I was in a bind back in the late 80's and needed the car for transportation and the 383 was just sitting, so I dropped it in after a freshen up with a cam. I do have a 440 hp out of my dad's old 72 Town and Country boat. That will get built and put back in the car.
When I do get time to work on the GTX it is always a blast especially with my son helping. Not sure if he is getting bored with all the history and stories about my beloved car. (I do have a lot after 36 yrs of owning her) <LOL>

Thanks! and yes it is pretty solid. The more I tear into it the happier I get after seeing SOOOOO many of what has to be done to some of the resto's being done on FBBO. Although I do have a lot of respect and appreciation for all the hard work and countless hours , days and years these guy's are doing on and to their Mopars. (just happy I don't have to do all the metal replacement)
I have been procrastinating for years on starting mine until I found this site and the members here and cars have inspired me to start it. Trying not to rush but can't wait to get her done. So if you want to stop by and help get it reborn to it's former glory you are more than welcome to. <<Just kidding.

Hey everyone, this is Josh Ed's son. My dad passed away on the 19th, due to cancer and Pneumonia. I know he has became made some friends on this site, and a lot were looking forward to seeing the GTX done, but don't worry the car will be done eventually and I will keep this thread updated. Just because my dad has passed away, doesn't mean his dream has to go with him. I'm finishing the car for him. Here's some of the progress of the car, keep in mind not much has been done since his last post of the car. But mainly what has been done is the whole driver side of the car has been sanded down and re-primed. (gotta say the car don't look bad gray, a lot better than orange, black, brown and gray!) But anyways here's the pictures.

As I said earlier in the post, I will get the car done, and I will keep everyone here updated on the car.

To all the members who've followed Ed and Josh's thread I wanted to let you know what a terrific guy Ed was, and Josh is. Losing Ed to complications of Pneumonia seems unreal, but having suffered it myself I KNOW how devestating it can be.

When I moved to Vegas I didn't know a soul and somehow Ed, Josh, and I hooked up via the forum. Ed and Josh, without any urging, helped me put together my current shop, and we've stayed in constant contact since, so you can imagine my heartfelt sadness when Josh told me his dad had suddenly passed.

Enjoy the time you have, enjoy your cars as long as you can, and spare a good thought for a wonderful guy whose left us far too soon.

Take care Josh, and as I told you in the PM's let me know if there's anything I can do.
