How do you eat your chili?

….homemade corn tortillas. Otherwise, homemade flour tortillas…
Tortillas work for almost anything in our house.

My first preference is eating chili on plain iceburg lettuce….
That’s a new one for me. But I do like iceberg lettuce. I’d try that.

…Tonight for dinner we're having ChiliBurgers...
Just like the ‘69 ‘Cuda. I never heard of that one until you just mentioned it. Do tell man.

We cook chili in a crockpot. Beef and beans are both in it. I like it a little spicy. It’s served in a bowl with shredded cheddar and sour cream on top. Saltines or oyster crackers. I’ll add some Frank’s Red Hot if it needs a little more heat. All depends on how much abuse with spice I put my stomach through previously that day.

How's that even possible?

Basically an open faced burger, shred a bunch of cheese to smother the burger, then cover it with Chili & finally smother it with more cheese.....

That's it - Skyline Chili!
Absolutely nasty, I tell ya!
Parents were from Cincinnati and when I was growing up we made many trips up there to visit relatives. When we hit town usually around noon, we would stop at the old Skyline parlor. My mother always made chili with spaghetti and my wife makes it that way to this day. A few years ago, we visited relatives up there and we went to a Skyline. It seemed more like a fast food place and while the food was alright, it wasn’t what I remembered.

The old guy cracks me up every time.

Next morning, left over chili omelette

That reminds me of what I used to make for my daughter for breakfast before school when we had leftover chili. Scrambled eggs with cheese and leftover chili on a flour tortilla for a chili egg burrito. One of her favorites.

What is that they put in the chili? Cinnamon?

i have heard and even tasted chili w cinnamon in it , it’s not for me ….i would much prefer leaving the cinnamon out . in our area texas hots are very popular, it’s similar to a chili dog but the sauce is different, some restaurants make the texas sauce with cinnamon also and again it not as good as without it . i like cinnamon elsewhere just not here ….moperedtn - the big spice in chili (con carne ) is chili powder , it comes in mild or hot and i’ve also found it in dark and light …. now we all know there are many chilis and recipes…..

Ah, here we go - what's different about Cincinnati ("Skyline") chili:
it has cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg in it, as it was originally derived from
Greek/Mediterranean heritage. Hell, sometimes they even put chocolate in it.
That explains it. Hard pass for me, every time I've tried it.

Now THAT I can get into...except these days, I gotta ease up on the hot part, sadly.

I never heard about the cinnamon and all that. Don’t know for sure, but this is probably the place we went to.

For a few years I've been eating mine with a ring of Doritos around the edge of the bowl.

Can scoop, or crush into.
