"90% confidence"
Yeah, when one bounces around between dealers and the title is never assigned to a buyer it doesn't rack up owners...LOL.. ONE owner in 19 years, "Clean" title !
It's also strange that they removed the fender tag. While it does contain vehicle information, it's not recognized as a VIN tag.I looked at that GTX. So strange the vin was removed.
Matching to what? This was a stay away from that one car for me.It's also strange that they removed the fender tag. While it does contain vehicle information, it's not recognized as a VIN tag.
Has the matching numbers engine been authenticated?
Bought it for $44 or so, relisted it for $95. Sound reputable...High Octane Classic had the car? I thought they were "reputable".
I would think so. There must be probable cause that a crime was committed in order to confiscate personal property as evidence, known as civil forfeiture.do they have a court order? some sort of warrant? cops are just allowed to deface someone's property?

Agreed... offhand, I would think there's a valid reason for the "number" property vs. the actual car they were installed on.so confiscate the car, why pry the numbers off of it? makes no sense to me

Well, considering the terrific example you already own, that's kind of a moot point. The VIN and fender tag. Of course, the block could be re-stamped too. Obviously there’s some shady **** going on in the eyes of the law, I wouldn’t touch that car with a 10 foot pole…
Baby Blue (a '68) had a '69 door installed on the right side in the late 70s, after being sideswiped. I spotted it when I bought the car for $1800, and didn't care. Neither did any of the other owners who have had the car besides me. To me, the incorrect location was more than cancelled out by the pit free chrome on the vent window frame. I currently own an early build '69 GTX with the original doors, and they both have the forward position knobs that were introduced with the '69 model year. The car originally had the center mounted fender signal indicators found on early models, like the car in this thread. Mine had the original fenders replaced with NOS in 1981. Those have outboard mounted turn signal indicators, same as the April built unrestored '69 I owned in the 90s.I wonder which door is correct?
The "early 69" 68 style door or the driver's door on a car that was hit hard on that side/front.
Wouldn't it have been relatively easy to relocate the lock knob?
New VIN might be AZ100012725336...
Or something like that.
Agree THEN verify what it is or isn't...so confiscate the car, why pry the numbers off of it? makes no sense to me
