All the talk about EFI specific high pressure line etc, there is no excuse for Ricks Tanks to use inadequate product. Then, to not make any effort to notify past customers of a now know defect that WILL cause failure is irresponsible. I’m surprised they admitted it after three phone calls.

Biggest pre trip waste of time was worrying about the plate stickers. Drove as fast as I wanted, never heard from Law Enforcement. You have to do a buck and a half on I-40 to get attention.
Other old cars had years old stickers.

YEah but you never know and why not avoid the potential hassle. You’re used to CA knuckleheads. I would have taken the cost free protection too.....

A recall notice should have gone out to ALL affected buyers, with a generous plan to address the problem!

In Louisiana, home of $2.99/gallon 93 octane 100% gas,
an "Antique" license plate is purchased once, $36, and never has to be renewed or paid for again. It also means that NO BRAKE TAG (inspection sticker) is required regardless of what the laws are in your local jurisdiction.
Our custom lettered Antique plates cost $136, the $100 added for the lettering we choose, like 6PAK440

Totally agree. I had the similar thing happen but my vendor was Hot Rod City:

• First, I received my tank with metal shavings in the tank.
• Second, they used non-high pressure hose clamps on the short fuel lines so I had a pressure leak that was very difficult to find
• Third, the drain plug was galled and stripped so the first time I used it (to fix THEIR problem), I ended up with a leaky tank.

It doesn't seem building a tank with an integrated fuel pump should be that &%%#@! hard!

I would start legal proceedings including the extra costs involved to complete your super cool trip.They should be offering a complete new tank assembly! Now make them pay for all your inconvenience ,the pain and suffering from the other half CAN'T be compensated

Questions. Who supplied the feed lines. Aeromotive or Ricks. What did the first shop find? Were the lines slimy like jello? I never laid on this pre assembled component. Plug and play as said.

Dennis it reminds me of when everybody changed from r/12 to 134a hoses did the same thing black stuff everywhere changed alot of dryers and expansion valves. Later found out the new oil for 134a was eating away the inner lining. Sounds like the same thing but only gas. Make sure to change your fuel filter it can get blockage in it and cause **** down also. Sorry for all your troubles on the road. Give your wife a big hug from all of us for being a trooper thru it all.

Thinking out loud here, but did that 'oh so good' gas in Louisiana hasten the degradation of the internal fuel lines?

Not being nasty here, but it seems the issues arose after fueling up with the good stuff.
