Route 66 trip

Day 5:
We started out the day with a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon.

Here’s some pics we took as we toured the Canyon by land…

We then made a trek about 3 hours away from our RV site to the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument.

We didn’t quite make it to where we wanted to there, but we still got some great views by the time we decided to turn around and head back.

Mama has an ‘09 G6 she uses for her DD.
You can see it in post #73.
It’s light and easiest on gas so we voted it the best amongst our vehicles as a tow-behind.

Theresa and I have said that a thousand times. To see it all would take me the rest of my life.

Rt.66 is a great start to see the rest of the country. Catch all the east /west major highways to see a lot of our beautiful country. Then take the major north/south highways ( more difficult). We now take the side roads to see beautiful areas. City of Rocks in Idaho, T. Roosevelt Nat'l Park in North Dakota, Saguaro Nat'l Park near Tucson, the Everglades in Florida and so on. There's always more to see.

Day 6:
We’re still in the Grand Canyon.
Going to see it train style this morning…

Long day on the train.
About 2 1/2 hours driving to the destination sight seeing spot.
We got to walk the south rim of the canyon for a few hours and then sit down for a meal before the 2 1/2 hour ride back.
The train ride was fantastic with great views and on-board entertainment, including a staged robbery by some outlaw Cowboys.
The hostess was absolutely phenomenal as well.

I told mama she could think about it, but doooon’t do it.
But here she is thinking about it LOL.

So I gave her a little taste of it right back.

She eventually had to come talk me off the ledge…

All kidding aside, we had a great time there together.

Tomorrow we’re hoping to be up bright and early, heading to Zion National Park in Utah.
