Rebuilding a stock 68 383 motor. I bought a new stamped rocker arm package from 440 Source. At first the rockers were too hard to move. After some minor grinding on the spacers I got them to move freely but there is less than .001 clearance between them. Is that enough?
Thanks

Too hard to move?
Please explain further. The rockers
shouldn't move at all once the lifters
are pumped up.
If you're rebuilding a stock engine
there should be no reason to grind
anything.

I would like to see more clearance between them than that for me.
Maybe .005 on stamped rockers I would guess. There should be a spec
somewhere that would give you a definitive answer.

The designed in clearance is in the
lifters with stamped steel rockers
and stock pushrods for a 383.
You shouldn't need to be grinding
on anything.
There again, please elaborate.

0.001" is a bit tight. Rub the side of the hold down clamps for a little more clearance.
