Grabbing hours through the week, I finished smoothing out the accessible rust pits on the rocker. I'll have to fab a repair patch for the rest of the outer rocker, but will wait for that until the inner rocker is reassembled.
I spent one evening making a drawing for the inner rocker would reassemble, and that steel should arrive tomorrow.
Finished work on a client project a bit early, and managed to get the k member stabbed. That included cutting off all the factory bump stop brackets.
Need to fab up the motor mounts.
UPS should have a nice package for me tomorrow.

I went to Moab, Buena Vista, and Taos. Now I’m back and working on the Charger.
Rockers are open, disconnected, and trimmed. One more repair, and I’ll be able to build the inner braces and then start on the new .120 wall inner rockers.
The fit is decent. Still needs some fine tuning, but that’s it for tonight.

Fine fitting this morning. The simplified shape eliminates The original convoluted voids at the bottom in favor of a straight seam that will easily mate to the new inner rockers.

Evening, gents.
The repair panel is fit and ready to weld. I’ll have to bump one transition after the first set of tacks, but it all measures up like the original.
Weld through primer is in place at the seam.
I flanged about 1/8” too deep, but it will puddle and fill just fine. Normally I would butt weld with a 1/16” gap, but I was concerned about getting too much heat on that thin corner.
This is the only taper, and there are no convoluted reliefs. Still plenty of room for the rear quarter to nest.
The shop is swept, and .023 wire is loaded for the morning.

I used a different order of operations to minimize distortion, and with good results. Tacks are spaced like normal, and ground individually. Takes longer, but I hardly had to use any hammer and dolly. Also, I’m glad I flanged the upper connection, but it made for an odd weld pull. Just had to adjust and clamp some square tube behind it to keep it flat and straight. I’ll probably butt weld the other side.
Now to build a cap for the end.
