Time to hit the Track.

Good Luck....just to remind you, I launch off the transbrake at 3600 and my car hooks fine at that rpm....consistant 1.40 60'.
1On the 15 16 of this month I will be trying out my new lighter car (180 lbs out since I went 10.15, but that was in 1000 ft adj altitude. Hope to go 10.15 or so this coming race when air is around 2500 to 3000. I will report in.
that was a great diet your car went on. we are all watching and ready to see your magic number. today i was thinking how to make the diet work even better this thought came to mind tell me if i am crazy. my thought is to either whole saw rad support or cut out and replace with aluminium is this to much.

The core support holds a lot. I'd leave it. As to the front of the car: Cut the K-frame. Use tubing for the hood latch support, steering shaft, strut rods, fender braces. Light bumper brackets, bolts. Aluminum motor plate. Glass hood, aluminum hood pins, no hinges. Glass fenders are a lot of work for not much savings. Couldn't bring myself to run small radiator or fans either as turn around time can be short. NMCA at Bowling Green this year the time slips for the semi and final rounds were 16 minutes apart. Also couldn't give up the chrome bumpers. The biggest savings would be an aluminum block. Everything else your stuck with if you want to look stock.

Good luck Mike when you get back to the track. You made a lot of changes since last year, like I did. Hope your car doesn’t change, like mine did.
So I’m sitting at the track now, watching the rain. Grrr.

Morning Malex, I had planned a trek too the track today and tomorrow as well "but" it is raining here in the Pacific Northwest, not a surprise. If by chance you are able to make some passes, be quick and safe.

I missing Mopar days at both my closest tracks Saturday and Sunday for a out of town wedding. Almost brought the truck and trailer for tomorrow.

Doug, you gotta keep them kids closer to home! Malex,, I have a feeling it will be a good couple runs! Fingers X’d.

The day is done. Morning rain. Only got 2 hits because of it. 3900-4000’ air again this afternoon.
Went 3 rounds, then a .003 red to put me in the trailer.
No new time but: 10.16 @ 131.9 mph today. Car was porpoising and the best 60’ was a 1.42.
Day 2 tomorrow. Gonna be after it! Cooler day scheduled too. Stay tuned.

Ouch. That’s a bugger. I know how I’d be feeling.
Doug, I have 150 lb rear springs coming for my coil overs. Are they about right in your opinion?

I think that's way too stiff. I run 120lb. Nothing is lightened in the rear of mine. It also has 2 batteries. The spring only needs to hold the car up. The shock controls the speed of the axle housing movement. I'd really like to see slow motion apple cell phone video. As I've said before, I don't think the shocks are stiff enough.

Excellent, what I was looking for on spring rates. My QA1 shocks that I run now, agreed, definitely not stiff enough for my power.

Finished up the season today, no new record, the best I was able to muster up was a 10.12 @ 131.9MPH. In three test passes it went 10.18, 10.12 & 10.15. 60's were 1.42, 1.38 and 1.39. Went out in second round. Air was better today, although the wind was bloody ridiculous cross wind from the west.

This is a video of today's 10.15 run. Sorry, no slow motion vid today.

Its getting close. Compare that video to your early ones.

Yeah I’m sad the season is over. Was great seeing you again. It will be a long winter

Same here Wooks. It went by too fast! As far as winter goes, I've got lots of plans that will make winter fly by. And you've got to get that big motor finished up and back under the hood. Think we're going to be running very similar numbers next year. Will be fun.

Boy no kidding hey.. it has come a long ways in 2 short seasons, for half of the first season I was running mid 11's, then into the high upper 10's, mid 10's and now into the low 10's.
The plan for next year is to shave another tenth off but more importantly, to make the car repetitively consistent. Thanks to you and all the others for all the help along the way.

glad you had a good finish this year. numbers are getting in line and the last video of the car looked good. well i'm ready with popcorn and a couple cold ones waiting for next year lol. now to see mike do his deal with the new diet he feed his car. keep us posted on updates this winter.

Season’s probably done for me as well. I had earned myself a trip to Boise for the D6 ET finals, but had to bail on it due to my niece’s wedding. Still might get out for a TNT day if the weather cooperates, but most likely not. Focus now set on off season projects.

lemonwedge, sounds like you have a list. sounds like you did well this year so next year will there be a chute on the back of that ride next year.
