Want to talk about NSS Cars intellectually.

^^^^^^^^How about it?^^^^^^^

SORRY DIDNT SEE THIS POST.
its a dial in bracket race with double breakout. most run on a .500 protree but 422 motorsports does a .400 full tree which i want to do with NENDRA this year. it gives the slower guys equal opportunity, .500 protree is better for the fast cars but we have a few 11.00 cars killing the protree. hope this helps.:icon_sunny:

With the index ETs so close, do they get at least an 8 car field in each class?I would guess this racing has a loyal but small pool of competitors as the criteria is pretty specific, not a cheap way to race. The bracket style dial in to the tenth sounds like it would include more cars, but do they incorperate a minimum ET?Is this a footbrake/no electronics style race? I might have to check out an event next season, I like the early style SS cars, just too expensive of a hobby anymore for me.

Sorry about the confusion. They don't run class they run on an index. So your index is your dial in. So you can get somone running 10.0 paired up with someone running 9.75.

im not familiar with the ohio nss rules. they are in their own world!!:jerk:

Keeping The Faith Car 8.48 at 158mph at The Grove. This car is a real MaxWedge car not a clone. It,s not backhalfed and still has stock trunk, frame rails with a ladder bar. Thats impressive...

Funny because he said he has a sheetmetal intake,it is backhalved, from what i see thats NOT NSS legal.
Then my black dodge is nss legal, cuz mine is more nss correct than that.

Its legal in FX/class.... Your car has a tube front end plus your running dry sump no good... Plus your hood scoop its like 18" tall...

NMCA Rules

1.21 INTAKE MANIFOLD
INTAKE MANIFOLD: Sheet metal intake prohibited. Manifolds restricted to
commercially available cast units. Top of manifold lid may be modified and fabricated as
necessary to accommodate carburetor placement.
Sheet metal units permitted in AAA/FX, AA/FX, and AF/X ONLY.

3.3 STEERING
STEERING: (NSS Classes) OEM steering mandatory.
STEERING: (F/X Classes) OEM or aftermarket steering in stock location mandatory.
3.4 SUSPENSION
FRONT SUSPENSION: Stock front suspension required. Aftermarket direct replacement
suspension components including A-arms permitted. Aftermarket, direct replacement bolt
in, tubular A-arms permitted.
REAR SUSPENSION: Rear suspension of ladder bar, three/four link, or stock rear
suspensions permitted.

my hoodscoop is only 3/4" taller than an fx scoop. it just looks big and i have torsion bars so im legal.FX rules are very relaxed compared to regular NSS.

I spent quite a bit of time talking to the NSS guys out my way and it really seems like I found my home for racing. What a great bunch! Here they are http://www.americannostalgiawest.com/ You will notice the balance of power lies with MoPars and Fords! Hopefully my green Belvedere will add to this list but it better go 10.50's to be competitive. I'm almost through fooling around with the stock motor so on to the next phase.

NSS ANW "west coast" {kind of} racing

I see the farthest North they come in Ca. is, to Bakersfield Ca. once, Fontana, Ca. once {LA area} & Borona Ca. {1/8 mile track, San Diego area} twice all SoCal tracks & The Strip @ Las Vegas, Nevada also once, none here in NorCal, but I wasn't even aware they were doing these NSS ANW races outside of the Nostalgia Racing circuit, the old guys NDRA or NCTA/SCTA, Gary Mederze NMCA {spelling?}, Good Guys type races maybe, I've been inactive for a while now, I think they all use NHRA legal Super Stock rules & set ups, or just Bracket races, it would be way too pricey to be competitive... The ANW Looks like some real fun, I need to look into it deeper...

I've been doing it since before it was NSS. The first Nostalgia event I raced at was in 1992, the old SuperCar Showdown/Nostalgia Nationals at Quaker City. We were called the "Field of Dreams", then.

My old piece is just that, it's an old piece, and just the way I raced it when I began back in 1969. It's not the quickest, but it's reliable and fun. It literally runs the same e/t's it did back in the day....with my son it goes 10.80's, but with this old, fat, slow guy behind the wheel it runs 10.90's-11.00's. It's fast enough for me....I don't feel like getting into my retirement. Going real fast is OK if that's what your into, but, it's really not worth spending the money, at least to me.

It is a true nostalgia car...SS springs, Dana, Iron 434 inch Hemi with TRW pistons, NASCAR rods, and an old, old Racer Brown roller. It goes 3905 with me.

There is enough new stuff laying around here to put together a much updated 484 inch Hemi...and, if I feel energetic one day I'll stick it together. But, if I don't, that's OK, too. I'll hang around and hold onto yesterday a while longer.

Well stated Steve.
I like you do the NSS thing for the fun and "nostalgia" part of it. I tune my carbs with a screwdriver and read sparkplugs to get tuning info- no modern technolgy for me. I'm not the fastest either but I plan to get (with some new parts over the winter) a "little" quicker and faster next season.

well NSS is really the best racing for me but im breaking ground with the headsup and 8.50 index thing next year.
but my roots are racing old b bodies.
I chase ET & MPH for each race. I use electronic O2 tuning device to dial in my cars.
I have been bit by the bug ever since i jumped in that 63 plymouth max wedge back in 2002. its been all downhill from there.
I could have retired with all the money i have spent on racecars and parts but its my only vice so its better than gambling, drinking, drugs, and whores.
The Beaver Springs Nostalgia race in July is absolutely the best, just wish it wasnt so friggin hot and humid every year. 94 degrees at 5:00pm is not fun.

This post resonates with me. Love the car and your attitude!

I was just at Bakersfield talking to Denny who has the white 64 Dodge Max Wedge car. He is a wealth of info and a great guy to boot. I'm jumping in with both feet.
